Rare Mid Century Modern Lounge Diamond Chair Harry Bertoia Knoll Black w/ Top. I acquired this collectible Diamond Chair from the original owners and the chair is in good overall condition although it would benefit from repair. I counted 10 metal pieces detached from the front that could be reconnected, and three pieces that have snapped in the middle section. Additionally, there are two cracks in the chair cover (top) piece along the front middle area. Please review the photos below carefully for a better understanding of the condition and feel free to ask questions. Add this piece of history to your mid century modern collection!

Rare Early Eero Saarinen Womb Sofa / Settee, Knoll, USA. A very rare early production Eero Saarinen womb settee, made by Knoll, USA, 1950s or early 1960s. Fibreglass, black enameled steel frames and first edition feet / glides. Original upholstery is in amazing condition. A true time capsule. The foam is hard but intact. The Womb Sofa is a two-seater sofa designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948. It is a double-wide version of the iconic Womb chair, acclaimed as one of the most comfortable modern chairs produced. The Womb Sofa was developed for Saarinen’s first big architectural commission: The General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan – a twenty-five-building complex that required furnishings for over 5,000 people. The Womb Sofa was designed to replace the clumsy, oversized sofa models of the time, Saarinen wrote: These dreadnaughts [have] disappeared from modern interiors partly because they were designed for an era that tried to impress by sheer mass. ” While such robust forms may have gone out of vogue, Saarinen saw their necessary function as timeless: “The need for such chairs has not passed. Table top is birch plywood with white laminated top and a natural birch edge. Measures 24 W x 20 H. Chairs are approx 23 1/2 h x 15 1/2 w. Condition: stored in barn for many years, table top shows seperation in plywood, oxidation where cast iron base connects to cyclone. Chairs show well, no broken welds, original seat covers show some stains, no rips or tears, all labeled. Please view all picture as part of condition, as I have tried to capture flaws.
