Striking MCM Gold Spangled Black Metal Candle Stand Abstract Cubist Color Sculpture Unsigned This wonderful but unidentified piece with both striking shapes and colors is an iconic MCM Abstract Cubist Metal Sculpture and Candle Holder. Believed to date from the 1950s. A solid piece in very good condition for its age and use. ! Colors: Gold Spangled Black, Matte Green, a smokey Matte Cream White, a dark Orangey Metallic Copper Red and a Metallic less coppery Red. I found it impossible to do justice to the metallic glow in my photographs. Representative of the Atomic Era, with very earthy colors! Condition: Mid Century Modernism. Here and there are some small bumps or dents that appear to be from the time of manufacture as they do not show any greater wear than the surrounding areas. In excellent condition with no loose parts. There may be minor edge wear on the paint of some of the abstract shapes – but that may also simply be from the time this piece was created. I have not found another like it to compare it to. A beautiful piece, deeply reflective of the avant garde abstract movement period when it was created. Total Height: 17 1/2 inches 5 Candle holder’s heights from base: 17, 15 1/2, 13 1/2, 12, and 10 inches. Base is rectangular with rounded corners. Base Width 21 inches Base Depth: 4 inches Base height: 1/2 inch Candle holder bowl: 3 3/4 inches across Weight: 4 pounds 1 oz , There is a Gold sticker and a sticker with a Caution on the bottom of the base. The designer/ sculptor/ maker in unknown. While various manufacturers have used similar phrasing, this specific gold-foil sticker with the text This product made with safe paint. It seems iconic for the time period and yet I have not yet found another like it.

This gorgeous sculpture was a South Carolina estate sale find. Made in 1983, it has a mid-century modern style. I do not know the history or provenance. The two whales swivel on their brass stands and can be angled to suit your preference. This is a substantial sculpture ideal for a coffee table, shelf or desk. It weighs more than 5 pounds. The black velvet lining on the base is partially detached. There is patina on the brass. There is general overall wear on the finish. Width: 6.5 inches. Base: 6 X 10 inches.

RARE ARTHUR UMANOFF MID CENTURY MODERN. ROUND STOOL BLACK VINYL. From 11/25 until 11/30. Any orders taken place during that time period will be processed when I return. Arthur Umanoff and his Stools. Umanoff stools, particularly from the Mid Century (1950’s-1960’s) are highly sought after by collectors. I believe the spindles on this example are made out of walnut. When I found this example, it had been in storage for a number of years. I haven’t even taken the dust off of this. It did have a few small paint smudges on it that have since been removed, (bottom of pic 1) & the tiniest piece of vinyl missing on the top. Usually when I find these they are almost always cracked, this example is the most solid of this stool I’ve ever seen. Design Philosophy and Materials. Umanoff’s designs championed natural materials and sought to merge form and function. He was particularly known for his innovative use of wrought iron, often combined with wood or rattan, creating pieces like his iconic Slat Bench and various stools. His work was influenced by Scandinavian design, especially the Danish modern style.

ITEM : For your consideration we are presenting for sale a large and quite awesome vintage atomic era wall hanging shadow box. Colors: Black / White. It is constructed of combed wood, and has diagonal / criss-cross black cord in the back as an accent to the box. There are two small shelves within the black framed area, and they are at staggered heights. The bottom of the black framed area also acts as a shelf as well. We are uncertain as to the maker. 28″ tall x 33.75″ wide. The black framed out section measures approx. 18″ tall x 24″ wide. The two smaller shelves at staggered heights each measure approx. 5.5″ wide x 3.5″ deep. Long bottom shelf measures 22.25″ wide x 3.5″ deep. CONDITION : Very good condition. A tiny amount of color loss, but nothing bad at all (see photos). It could benefit from a gentle cleaning, but displays very well in its current state. There are no breaks, chips, repairs, etc. Has two metal hanging brackets, on one each side towards the top, for hanging / display.
