Made on April 17th 1953, this is a Heywood Wakefield M395 record cabinet end table! The table was originally a wheat color but I’ve sanded it to allow you to stain it any color you’d like! The tables in great condition but does have some wear. Being over 70 years old theres a few small dings and glued small cracks (see pictures) but overall condition is really good especially for as rare as this piece is. This striking 1960s masterpiece is a premier example of Scandinavian mid-century design. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the vibrant, cased electric blue glass to the heavy, hand-blown weight of the piece. While these studio pieces were hand-signed on the base, the signature can often be faint; however, this vase is easily verified by its hallmark Alsterfors production features: the precision-ground flat rim and the signature polished pontil “swirl” on the base. This is the quintessence of Mid-Century Modern design. I could not find another like it, apart from the other one that I have up for sale separately. And using image search, I could not find or date it. It’s possible it is a retro or throwback design that came out in a later decade. But it certainly fits right in with the MCM or Japandi aesthetic. Bulb is for demonstration purposes only in photos. Bulb and shade are not included. You can have fun finding the perfect shade. It would work with many different styles of shade. This is approximately 15 inches in height, including the socket without a bulb in it. The socket at top is just the slightest bit of skew. I don’t think it would even be noticed once the shade is clamped onto the bulb. Or you could adjust that if you are handy with things but I don’t think you’d really need to. A wonderful piece of decor that will surely catch the eyes of your guests! I hope my photos did it justice and showed that it creates the illusion of a drip technique. That is actually the way the painter applied the gold to create that illusion. It’s a quite interesting effect visually.
