This striking 1960s masterpiece is a premier example of Scandinavian mid-century design. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the vibrant, cased electric blue glass to the heavy, hand-blown weight of the piece. While these studio pieces were hand-signed on the base, the signature can often be faint; however, this vase is easily verified by its hallmark Alsterfors production features: the precision-ground flat rim and the signature polished pontil “swirl” on the base. This is a sophisticated, museum-quality find that perfectly captures the bold aesthetic of the Per Olof Ström era. Designer: Per Olof Ström. Color: Brilliant Cased Cobalt Blue. A standout example of Scandinavian modernism, this teak wastebasket designed by Martin Åberg for Servex. Is a must-have for serious collectors of 20th-century design. Produced in Sweden during the golden age of Nordic modernism, Åberg’s piece exemplifies the region’s dedication to functional beauty and material integrity. Solid teak wood with original brushed aluminum liner. Mid Century Modern / Scandinavian Modern. 11″ tall x 9.75″ diameter at the opening (edge to edge). Minor signs of use consistent with age. The teak has a beautiful patina, and the aluminum insert is intact and clean. This piece features a gracefully tapered silhouette, masterfully constructed in warm Scandinavian teak with vertical grain orientation, and includes its original aluminum insert -often missing from surviving examples. Minimalist, refined, and highly architectural, the design speaks to Åberg’s rare ability to elevate everyday objects into sculptural forms. Authentic Scandinavian modern from the mid-20th century. EACH ETCHED TEARDROP IS 5 1/2″ LONG X 2 1/4″ WIDE. POSSIBLY BY DANISH DESIGNER ERIK HOGLUND (OR IMPORTANT PREDECESSOR). PLEASE SEE HIS GLASS TEARDROP FLOOR LAMPS WITH THE EXACT DESIGN AND SAME GLASS SHADE AND BLACK ENAMEL COATED ROUND BASE. THIS ONE IS OBVIOUSLY FROM THE 1950’S-1960’S AND IS MADE OF REAL ETCHED METAL INSTEAD OF GLASS, MAKING IT EXTREMELY RARE! 49 HIGH WITH LAMP SHADE. 44 HIGH TO BULB SOCKET. For sale is a gorgeous mid century lamp base featuring a textured mold-blown cased caramel brown glass over white glass designed by Helena Tynell for Luxus. The variation in glass thickness gives the lamp a lovely organic quality, with subtle variations in color density overall. Signed “Luxus, Made in Sweden, NR, 1161.32″. The lamp base is in very good condition with the exception of a tiny imperfection on the top row of glass knobbies. Please see the photo #4. The lamp has a European style plug and would require an adapter for US use. Toggle switch for easy on /off. The top white & black piece which houses the socket is not affixed to the lamp base, but there is evidence of glue residue. Please refer to photos. I do not know if any other pieces, decorative or otherwise, were mounted to the top of the base. There is no lampshade or harp. Base Measures 15-3/4″ h x 5-1/2″ in diameter. The base would accommodate a shade measuring 11″ h x 14″ diameter at the base and 12 diameter at the top in order to look… The referenced lamps have had some work done to them, so may not be entirely original.
