This 1960s original desk lamp is from famed Italian post-war artist Gaetano Missaglia. But I liked it so I bought it. Sometimes I have good taste. It was not working when I got it so I had a lamp expert rewire it and find the appropriate bulb for it. It works like a champ now. Handiness is not my strong suit so I turn to experts for help. Which brings me to the condition. I would say it is in good but not perfect condition. The acrylic or lucite (or what ever it is) in overall good shape. The might be a surface scratch on the left side that is shown as a straight line running right over the curve as shown in photo 6. It does not appear to be deep and you really have to be looking for it. That is the biggest apology in the acrylic. There is some other light, light scratching. There also looks to be internal flaw that is about an 1/8 of an inch long as shown in photo 7. It does not appear to be on the surface but inside the acrylic. I did nothing to the brushed metal surface except a little gentle cleaning. Smack drab in the middle of the metal is what looks like sticker residue. I did not attempt to remove it —- see the part about me being not handy. I have ruined a couple items while trying the remove a price sticker God, I hate price stickers. But my guess is that it will be easily removed by someone who knows what they are doing. I did not want to risk it. You can see the sticker residue in multiple photos. Other wise the brushed metal has some surface wear — best seen in photo 9. Again, this may be able to be cleaned up to look brand new again. Overall I think it is in good shape. There is an original Missaglia sticker on the back. No PO Boxes please. Must have a street address. Please check out all my photos and ask questions about this item if needed. RARE AND FABULOUS ANTIQUE MODERN ABSTRACT BIRD WALL SCULPTURE BY REVERED MODERNIST SCULPTOR C JERE. THIS WORK IS COMPRISED OF A GROUP OF EXOTIC MODERNIST SCULPTED BIRDS. SIGNED AND DATED 1971 BY C JERE. BASED ON EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, ONLY A FEW OF THESE WERE MADE. DIMENSIONS: 30″ H x 15″ W. Known for: Collaborative sculpture, Artisan House-even signed pieces are studio works. Name variants: C Jere, Jerry collaboration record Fels, Curtis Freiler, Curtis collaboration record Freiler, A Curtis Jere. Jeré is a metalwork artist of wall sculptures and household accessories. Jeré works are made and marketed by the corporation Artisan House. Curtis Jere is a compound nom-de-plume of artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels. The two founders combined pieces of their names to create the C. Modernism magazine interviewed Jerry Fels shortly before his death in October 2008. According to the resulting article in the Spring 2007 issue of Modernism magazine, page 116, the company was founded in 1963 by Fels and his brother-in-law Curtis (Kurt) Freiler. Freiler was the production chief, and Fels was the head of design. Their goal was to produce gallery-quality art for the masses. Artisan House sculptures are no longer made in California. Writer Mitchell Owens wrote a two-page article on the history of C. Jere for the November 2010 issue of Elle Decor. In it, he states Today, those pieces are attracting the admiration of leading dealers in vintage chic. ” He says that after launching in 1964, Jere sculptures were “distributed by Raymor, a cutting edge studio in New York City, and retailed at Gump’s in San Francisco and other high-quality emporiums. Jeré works range from representational to highly abstract. Some older techniques, such as enameling, using resin and bronze, haven’t been used in decades. Rare Contemporary Large 16 Handcrafted Sea Urchin Table Lamp. Mid Century Modern Style – Circa 1970s. Beautiful modernist mid century sculptural sea urchin table lamp handcrafted with leather spines over a metal frame with a one bulb socket inside. A really cool and hard to find mid-century sea urchin table lamp, circa 1970s. The lamp is crafted with hundreds of leather strips over a metal frame supporting a one bulb socket. The lamp is in very good vintage condition and measures 16″D x 16″H. The lamp is the light tan color in the main photo; the last two photos show the light turned on and the color of the lamp appears darker. Showing almost no wear or aging. Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage abstract face sculptural table lamp. Circa’50s /’60s. The lamp has a standard rotary knob switch located at the socket. It is inscribed “Heifetz” along the back edge of the lamp where the electrical cord emerges from the base (see photo). No shade present – that’ll be left up to the winning purchaser to provide on their own. This lamp is a definite statement piece that’ll make a nice addition to any modern interior setting! The lamp stands approx. 19.5 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the light socket). The wood base measures approx. 16.75″ tall x 8.25″ wide x 5.25 deep. The abstract face measures approx. 9″ tall x 5.5″ wide. Condition: Given its age, the lamp is in very good condition – there are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There is some minor paint loss in spots on the abstract face (see photos) – they can be easily touched up, or just left alone. We chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. The biomorphic base shows some color wear, and there are spots where it looks like it may have come into contact with moisture. It can easily be restained, or again, just left alone. In our opinion, it does not interfere with the overall display of the lamp. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamp is b. All sales are final. Rare – I can not find another example. To that end, I suspect this wasn’t for dealers, but likely was for C-Level Executives of the time period. Appears to be 1950s given the hints of Mid Century Modern Flare. Made of Solid American Walnuet by Lasercraft mated to some lower, metal, feet. Approximately: 5.25″ W x 4 5/8″ T x 1 5/8 Thick. An exceptionally rare, early, piece of Toyota history.
