The Gerald Thurston Lightolier 1960s MCM Rare Beige Mushroom Lamp is a vintage table lamp with a unique Mid-Century Modern style. This lamp features a beige color and a diameter of 13 inches, made of plastic and metal materials. With a corded electric power source and a height of 20 inches, this lamp is equipped with a dial and switch control style. The brand Lightolier is known for its quality lighting products, and this rare beige mushroom lamp from the 1960s is a perfect addition to any collector’s display, adding a touch of retro charm to any space. 2 of the 3 tabs that lock the plastic & metal top pieces in place are broken. These pieces balance perfectly so unless the lamp is bumped into they will stay in place. There is a part of the shade where there is a slight crack which appears to be a bit melted. Cross posted, first come first serve. Authentic mid-century cube side table designed by Gerald McCabe for Orange Crate Modern, circa 1970s. This is one of his iconic bent plywood nesting cube tables – celebrated for its clean lines and minimalist California modern design. ? Constructed in walnut veneer with rich wood grain?? Original finish?? Strong, sculptural form – functions beautifully as a side table, plant stand, or accent piece?? Rare to find individually Condition: This piece retains its original finish with light surface scratches and a few areas of finish wear, consistent with age. Extremely hard to find – Few of these still exist due to the delicate nature of the plastic shades. Even fewer come up for sale, especially in working condition with the original perforated metal diffuser intact. ? Fabulous pair of Gerald Thurston Lightolier lamps. These are both in working condition. One looks bigger than the other but that’s because they have two different types of light bulbs in them so the shade comes down lower on the one with the shorter bulb. I measured both and they are 22″ tall from top of the shade to the bottom of the base, the shades are 7″ long and 42 around the fattest section of the shade. The shades are plastic, the base is metal. Other than some dust, these are in great shape, no cracks or anything in the shades, they just need to be wiped down. When turned off the shades are an off white color, when turned on, they are orange color. Very cool midcentury lamps, hard to find a matching pair in this style and in this good condition. Smoke free pet free home.

He let me know that his father lived in Cleveland OH, but went to New York City and Chicago to find furnishings and lamps for his home in the 1950’s. Note: This lamp is attributed to Gerald Thurston’s designs for Stiffel lamp co. Specific to this lamp is the custom shade that the original owner had commissioned for this lamp. From what I’ve been told by the original owner’s son, his father didn’t like the original shade offered and wanted a more “natural” look to the shade, so he had this one made. It features images of wheat, butterflies and scattered dried grass fronds. This lamp has a very unique switch to turn on the 3 light bulbs that the lamp takes. It was designed so that all 3 light-bulbs can be a 3-way bulb with varying degrees of brightness. It’s a very unique switch designed to really customize the brightness to the user! In full disclosure this lamp is not completely in it’s original condition. The owner let me know that he decided to spray-paint the original brass base with black spray-paint in the 1990’s to make it look new again. He didn’t realize that this would affect the vintage value. Is removable & it could be restored for those who are purists when it comes to these lamps. Note too, that on the black spray paint on the lamp, there are a few chips, exposing the original bright brass underneath. There’s also a few chips of the paint on the star-base along the edges of the base armature. Typically, this lamp in its orig. Condition would have been their natural brass color on the base with a white shade and the metal grid cover at the top would also be white. You can see in the pictures that the base is now black and the grid is black on the top facing the ceiling. However, the original white paint is still on the underside of the grid, so if you’re going to have it restored, you have the original color there that you can use as a guide.
