Very rare “Consensus” by Drexel Furniture mid-century modern console or sofa table in excellent vintage condition. I haven’t found another table like this one online or anywhere. Characterized by its parquetry-patterned top and clean lines, Drexel’s “Consensus” line, introduced in the 1970s, is known for its use of oak and geometric designs. The table’s legs are straight and slender, with a recessed detail running vertically, adding a subtle design element without disrupting the overall minimalist aesthetic. It has a lacquer finish which highlights the light and dark parquet pattern. Size: 59 3/4″ L x 15 5/8″ D x 25 5/8 H. Rare Early Eero Saarinen Womb Sofa / Settee, Knoll, USA. A very rare early production Eero Saarinen womb settee, made by Knoll, USA, 1950s or early 1960s. Fibreglass, black enameled steel frames and first edition feet / glides. Original upholstery is in amazing condition. A true time capsule. The foam is hard but intact. The Womb Sofa is a two-seater sofa designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948. It is a double-wide version of the iconic Womb chair, acclaimed as one of the most comfortable modern chairs produced. The Womb Sofa was developed for Saarinen’s first big architectural commission: The General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan – a twenty-five-building complex that required furnishings for over 5,000 people. The Womb Sofa was designed to replace the clumsy, oversized sofa models of the time, Saarinen wrote: These dreadnaughts [have] disappeared from modern interiors partly because they were designed for an era that tried to impress by sheer mass. ” While such robust forms may have gone out of vogue, Saarinen saw their necessary function as timeless: “The need for such chairs has not passed. Store in climate-controlled storage and now completely covered in my home. Very good used condition. Completely detached and movable ottoman or table convertible section. 102 inches in length total and 30 inches deep. Only fabric flaw is 1 tiny hole in cushion (shown in picture) Some scuffing on wooden legs – appears to be water mark (lightly discolored) on table portion (both shown in pictures) Any other questions, feel free to ask.
