Rare Vintage MCM Metal Iron Lamp Atomic Era Mid Century Modern 50s Saucer Shade
ITEM : For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage atomic era table lamp. The framework of the lamp is iron. Each of the three arms that extend upward end in a small horizontal extension which the black metal saucer-shaped shade rests atop. At the center of the lamp is an off-white pierced metal cone that contains the light socket on the inside. The lamp has a round black metal base at the bottom, upon which is a standard rotary knob switch that is used to turn the lamp on/off. MEASUREMENTS : With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 19.5″ tall x 12.5″ wide x 12.5 deep. The distance from the bottom of the base to the top of the lamp frame is approx. There is a distance of approx. 11 between each of the three extensions that the shade rests atop. The pierced white metal shade that contains the light socket is approx. 7″ tall x 5″ in diameter (measured across the top). The round black metal base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. CONDITION : Overall the lamp is in very good condition for its age. There are a few cosmetic things which we’ll mention now. First off, the round saucer shade has a small shallow dings to it. They were hard to photo, but if you look carefully they are there. The metal is somewhat lightweight and malleable, so they may be able to be worked out. They are shallow, and didn’t bother us, so we just left them alone. Next, the white conical shade has some light surface marks on it – we didn’t attempt to clean them, so we’re uncertain as to whether or not they’ll come off. They look like superficial marks on the paint (see photos). Otherwise, the lamp is in great shape and is in working order. Wiring looks to be original to the lamp, and it’s in great shape – there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle wires. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working condition. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed professional inspect before long-term use. Mid century Hollywood Regency style, ifeatures elegant lines and a glamorous aesthetic. Approximately 40 inches round globe amber Whites part Chimney is around 12 inches tall. Base is approximately 16. Cord needs to be replaced or repaired but lights up now. Chip on side of amber globe cannot see it when placed on the base top of the amber globe has a few glass. Nicks cannot see it only can feel it.

Interesting mid century floor lamp in black wood, black metal and brass with original fiberglass shade. Cannot find any maker marks but the style definitely resembles some of the Majestic lamps. The closest one I could find is in the last photo. A nicer lamp but a lot more expensive too! The decorative elements are similar with the same little brass ball cap nuts. Hard to see because photo is a bit blurry but you can look it up on the 1st dibs website. The cord is original but the plug is a vintage replacement that looks very appropriate. 3 way switch works great. Most of the brass sections have been repainted but you can see some of the original up just under the light bulb. Everything looks quite nice for its age with some marks here and there consistent with age & use. There is a little rough, discolored area under the rim on the base as seen in 2nd to last photo. Lamp stands about 55.5 inches to top of shade but finial adds another inch or so. Weighs about 10 lbs, so it’s not a super heavy lamp but is quite stable and solid. Measurements and closeups are shown in photos so please take a look and remember that last photo is NOT part of this listing! It’s just to show you the most similar lamp I could find online.
