This lamp is in excellent vintage operational condition. After an exhaustive internet search, we were unable to find another example of this lamp. Apparently the mosaic tile tables usually didn’t survive the stresses of time. The mosaic tile pattern on the adjustable table is in perfect condition. The lamp retains all of it’s original components, except for electrical. The electrical components have been refurbished to bring the lamp into modern UL code compliance. This lamp is absolutely stunning and would be the highlight of any room that it is placed in. Any Mid Century Modern collector will be extremely pleased to add this to their collection. Here is a rare and beautiful hand blown art glass bottle/vase of alternating blue/green vertical stripes by Fulvio Bianconi; Venini, Murano, Italy ca. This is a very desirable form and would be the centerpiece of many a collection. Unsigned but would have had a paper or foil label. This vase measures 9″ tall without stopper, 11″ tall with stopper. And about 5 1/2 in diameter. The slender neck is about 1 diameter at its narrowest. The bottle WITHOUT the stopper is a treasure and a steal at this price. Consider the modified stopper a bonus. Few bottles come with the stopper still intact. Condition for the VASE is excellent vintage condition. I detect no chips, scratches, cracks or fleabites. Only nominal wear to the bottom. Condition for the STOPPER is as follows – The stopper presents itself with no obvious issues. But after years of ownership I’ve concluded that it has been ground and polished at the lip. The stoppers I’ve seen with this style of vase are usually wide lipped and sit above the lip of the bottle. This stopper has no lip and looks suspiciously like it has been modified. I don’t think it would have come like this from the maker. I offer it here with the thought that an altered stopper is better than no stopper at all. Womb Chair & Ottoman 1st Generation KNOLL. This rare first generation Model 70 Chair and matching ottoman (VERY RARE to find both together from this period) more commonly known as the Womb Chair, by Eero Saarinen for Knoll Associates. Confirmed by the un-afixed label (which will be included) with the early 36-30 Steinway St Long Island City 1, N. Address (see pics) which predates the use of zip codes. The frame and feet match Knoll’s example for the 1948 first year productions for the iconic Womb Chair, and the matched label further supports this. This lounge chair and ottoman are being offered as as set for either a collector’s piece to keep and hold as-is with its current original hopsack (very Cato-esque) textile (I believe wool) or alternatively this could be a designer’s reupholstery project for the client who wishes to have the best of the best. I personally would look into having the fabric cleaned and repaired as a great deal of the fabric is still in amazing condition and it is so incredibly beautiful. The fabric shows signs of use and wear with a few tears and pulling, and the foam has hardened and is disintegrating. If regular use is intended, reupholstery with new foam and fabric (or leather) is advised. Additionally there is a small crack in one of the legs (see last pic) near the where the screw hole is. The Ottoman has some bent plywood delimitation (see 2nd to last pic) about 1.5-2 inches wide on both sides of the ottoman, which again is a minor repair if you were to choose to reupholster the piece. Please understand that everything on both the chair and ottoman are original and untouched. These 1st generation Womb chairs were made quite differently than modern production Womb Chais (bent plywood AND fiberglass) and as such it has a weight and presence that the new ones don’t have. Florence Knoll requested that Eero Saarinen design a chair like a basket full of pillows, the result was the groundbreaking Womb armchair. This iconic piece would be a great addition as part of a classic or contemporary living room, den, man or woman! Cave, family room, office or bedroom. It would also be an apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium. There are multiple high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. This piece is a tour de force of hand carving, absolutely exquisite work, there are a few versions of this. Lamp, the more modern versions have allot less detail and the caring is generally allot cruder, the master that made this piece knew his trade and his tools very well, he has captured perfectly the body. Language, the facial expression, everything is just spot on, these pieces are folk art and very highly collectable. We have fully restored it to make it safe and usable for the 21st century, the light fitting has been replaced with a modern mount, all new wiring, plug and switch, it is now ready to go. A RARE GIO PONTI Cabinet Vase, Made by VENINI, Murano, ITALY. Circa mid 1950’s. This design, by GIO PONTI is well documented in Venini Publications and catalogues. It is illustrated in ” VENINI Catalogue Raisonne”, by Anna Venini Diaz de Santillana. 1921 – 2007, Published by SKIRA Editore S. 521.3, illustrated on Pg. 295, the cabinet vase is shown there. Also illustrated is another version, No. 334.3 on Pg. 289, a slightly smaller glass. Being part of a Bicceria set with a Carafe and 4 different sized Glasses. Other variations illustrated include Carlo Scarpa’s “Pennelate” series and also. Fulvio Bianconi’s, “a fasche orrizontale”. This piece measuring 105mm x 95mm x 55mm, being Height x Top Diameter.
