Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage fiberglass tray manufactured by Boltabest. Not certain if this is a George Nelson design. The surface is in black and white, and it features abstract shapes throughout (see photos). The underside of the tray is brown, and it has the Boltabest logo embossed on the back (again, see photos). We’ve seen plenty of these trays over the years, but we’ve never run across this particular design. It’ll be a nice addition to any modern interior setting. 20.25″ wide x 15″ deep. Condition: The tray is in good condition, but not perfect. There are light superficial scratches over the top surface; however, it still displays nicely. The corners of the tray show some discoloration. We have not done anything in an attempt to clean or treat the tray to see if they’d come out, so we’re uncertain whether they will or not. The brown underside of the tray shows some scratching as well from previous surfaces that it has come into contact with over the years. There’s also some white discoloration on the underside – again, we haven’t cleaned the tray – these may or may not come out. All sales are final. Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage abstract face sculptural table lamp. Circa’50s /’60s. The lamp has a standard rotary knob switch located at the socket. It is inscribed “Heifetz” along the back edge of the lamp where the electrical cord emerges from the base (see photo). No shade present – that’ll be left up to the winning purchaser to provide on their own. This lamp is a definite statement piece that’ll make a nice addition to any modern interior setting! The lamp stands approx. 19.5 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the light socket). The wood base measures approx. 16.75″ tall x 8.25″ wide x 5.25 deep. The abstract face measures approx. 9″ tall x 5.5″ wide. Condition: Given its age, the lamp is in very good condition – there are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There is some minor paint loss in spots on the abstract face (see photos) – they can be easily touched up, or just left alone. We chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. The biomorphic base shows some color wear, and there are spots where it looks like it may have come into contact with moisture. It can easily be restained, or again, just left alone. In our opinion, it does not interfere with the overall display of the lamp. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamp is b. All sales are final. Up for your consideration is this Unique Vintage Mid Century Modernist Abstract Rare “Artist Proof” Lithograph by Listed Artist Joseph Cox III. Straight out of a Mid Century Modern Estate Sale. The piece is Titled “Abstract #3″ and is signed by the artist in the lower right hand corner. “Artist Proof” is located between the title of the piece and the artist’s signature. It is a beautiful Modernist Work! The Cincinnati Art Museum held an exhibition of his work in September, 2008 Titled: “In Retrospect: The Works Of Joseph Cox III, ” an exhibition that features artwork from each period of his career. The size of the work itself Measures approximately 16″ X 12 1/2″ and is in Very Good Vintage Condition. There appears to be a small smudge at the bottom between “Abstract #3″ and “Artist’s Proof”. With frame measures 24″ Long X 20″ High X 3/4 Thick. The frame is in Fair Vintage Condition with the usual signs of age and wear. Frame is solid but has considerable wear. Matting is in good condition. In addition to your Modern or Contemporary Setting, this Abstract Lithograph would be a wonderful addition to any Danish Modern, Paul Evans, Curtis Jere, Mid Century, Modernist or Eames Décor. RARE AND FABULOUS ANTIQUE MODERN ABSTRACT BIRD WALL SCULPTURE BY REVERED MODERNIST SCULPTOR C JERE. THIS WORK IS COMPRISED OF A GROUP OF EXOTIC MODERNIST SCULPTED BIRDS. SIGNED AND DATED 1971 BY C JERE. BASED ON EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, ONLY A FEW OF THESE WERE MADE. DIMENSIONS: 30″ H x 15″ W. Known for: Collaborative sculpture, Artisan House-even signed pieces are studio works. Name variants: C Jere, Jerry collaboration record Fels, Curtis Freiler, Curtis collaboration record Freiler, A Curtis Jere. Jeré is a metalwork artist of wall sculptures and household accessories. Jeré works are made and marketed by the corporation Artisan House. Curtis Jere is a compound nom-de-plume of artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels. The two founders combined pieces of their names to create the C. Modernism magazine interviewed Jerry Fels shortly before his death in October 2008. According to the resulting article in the Spring 2007 issue of Modernism magazine, page 116, the company was founded in 1963 by Fels and his brother-in-law Curtis (Kurt) Freiler. Freiler was the production chief, and Fels was the head of design. Their goal was to produce gallery-quality art for the masses. Artisan House sculptures are no longer made in California. Writer Mitchell Owens wrote a two-page article on the history of C. Jere for the November 2010 issue of Elle Decor. In it, he states Today, those pieces are attracting the admiration of leading dealers in vintage chic. ” He says that after launching in 1964, Jere sculptures were “distributed by Raymor, a cutting edge studio in New York City, and retailed at Gump’s in San Francisco and other high-quality emporiums. Jeré works range from representational to highly abstract. Some older techniques, such as enameling, using resin and bronze, haven’t been used in decades.
