THIS IS 53 AND A HALF INCHES TALL TO THE TOP OF THE SOCKET WITH SHADE IT IS 58 AND A QUARTER INCHES TALL GAZELLE ITSELF IS APPROXIMATELY 11 AND 3/4 IN HIGH. THE BASE DOES HAVE SOME DENTING IN IT. Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage abstract face sculptural table lamp. Circa’50s /’60s. The lamp has a standard rotary knob switch located at the socket. It is inscribed “Heifetz” along the back edge of the lamp where the electrical cord emerges from the base (see photo). No shade present – that’ll be left up to the winning purchaser to provide on their own. This lamp is a definite statement piece that’ll make a nice addition to any modern interior setting! The lamp stands approx. 19.5 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the light socket). The wood base measures approx. 16.75″ tall x 8.25″ wide x 5.25 deep. The abstract face measures approx. 9″ tall x 5.5″ wide. Condition: Given its age, the lamp is in very good condition – there are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. There is some minor paint loss in spots on the abstract face (see photos) – they can be easily touched up, or just left alone. We chose to leave it in the condition in which it was acquired. The biomorphic base shows some color wear, and there are spots where it looks like it may have come into contact with moisture. It can easily be restained, or again, just left alone. In our opinion, it does not interfere with the overall display of the lamp. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamp is b. All sales are final. A rare large 1950s 60s Mid Century Modern pendant lamp. This classic Modernist cylindrical shaped brushed aluminum downlight with it’s beautiful clean, simple, minimalist lines is found in the best examples of Mid Century Modern architecture like the case study houses in Los Angeles and numerous Mid Century houses in Palm Springs. It has a long thin metal stem and original ceiling cap is included. The interior is done in chrome metal. It holds one regular size bulb. Original paper label on the inside : Marco Marvin Electric Mfg. It carries an older Underwriters Laboratories certification label. (the “UL” marking indicates approval by Underwriters Laboratories). As this is an older label, the lamp can be dated between the 1950s, 60s. Below is a quote from an add where Marco light designs were used in case study house no. 25 in Los Angeles. In good vintage condition, No dents, minor wear, minor surface scratches but this doesn’t detract from it’s beauty. Tall including stem : 26 (66 cm). Diameter width across: 6 (15 cm). Pendant tall : 11 1/2 (29 cm). Stem tall : 14 (35 1/2 cm). MARCO Marvin Electric MFG. Quote from a MARCO add in Architectural magazine in 1962 for Case study house no. The finest in Architectural design. The case study house no. 25 designed by architects Killingsworth, Brady, Smiths and associates included Marco recessed lighting to achieve the lighting effect so important to the interior. These are the most interesting stylish and actually good looking stools we have come across in years We believe 1940s’50s possible’60s but we think earlier. They have cast iron bases. They are adjustable and they appear to be ORIGINAL. The paint is original It’s a chippy pity scratched faded gold finish We have not repainted them or done anything These have some spectacular bones. When they’re fully extended they are approximately 28 1/2 ” tall when they are down they are approximately 19″. Take a look at the underneath of the seat The cone shape really sets them apart. They’re just beautiful. They’re in need of restoration. The wood is nice the lacquer is nice although there are some scratches scuffs pits chips but overall they are very usable as they are. The iron bases and poles are original they’re chippy scratch scuffed I believe some antique gold would really work for these that’s the original color of the iron. How they work at least I think so is you just pop it up and they lock in place when fully extended and then you pop it back up and they go down two of them work well One of them works sometimes and the other one does not lock at all so it’s always in the down position I think it’s a quality restoration. AVID ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES are proud to present this this ULTRA RARE MID CENTURY MODERN PIERCED METAL POLE/MOSAIC TILE TABLE LAMP CIRCA 1950’S for your consideration. This lamp is in excellent vintage operational condition. After an exhaustive internet search, we were unable to find another example of this lamp. Apparently the mosaic tile tables usually didn’t survive the stresses of time. The mosaic tile pattern on the adjustable table is in perfect condition. The lamp retains all of it’s original components, except for electrical. The electrical components have been refurbished to bring the lamp into modern UL code compliance. This lamp is absolutely stunning and would be the highlight of any room that it is placed in. Any Mid Century Modern collector will be extremely pleased to add this to their collection.
