SPECIAL SALE PRICE – LIMITED TIME OFFER. For your consideration is one of the holy grail items for vintage Eames collectors: the ever elusive dowel base table. This is definitely for serious Eames collectors and would be an amazing addition to any mid century modern collection. Given its rudimentary attachments, this particular one we have may have even been a prototype, but we’re not certain. In any case, it’s a great piece and would perfectly complement any Eames chair or other mid century modern furniture in your home or office. Table top diameter: 18. The base is made by SENG CHICAGO (the maker’s mark is still visible on the underside, as depicted), which made most of the early dowel bases for Eames and Herman Miller. This table features one of the rare Seng dowel bases with all original leg tips still intact. There appear to be no rewelds that we can see, which is rare for these bases, but please examine all the photos to make your own determination. “DESIGNED BY CHARLES EAMES” medallion affixed on the bottom of the table. The original tag had fallen off when we got the table, but this is the same era-appropriate tag found on these vintage tables. Overall good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, notably rust and oxidation on the metal rods and disc of the dowel base, scratches on the wood and surface of the white veneer tabletop, a small chip on the underside near the medallion which won’t be visible when the table is in use, and loose screws attaching the base to the table top. One screw/washer set appears to have been a replacement and doesn’t look like the other three. We would recommend reinforcing these connectors either by adding brackets to the bottom or via epoxy, as the table top moves/spins ever so slightly because of these loose screws. The screw openings/holes in the table’s underside have also loosened/expanded with age, or perhaps were probably already that way to begin with (which makes us further believe this is a prototype, given the rudimentary assembly), so this will need some refurb. When lifting the table, make sure to hold the legs securely with one hand along with the table top with the other. Still a very solid piece and relatively heavy for its small size, with a weight of approximately 16 pounds. This would match beautifully with the seafoam green rope edge chair with original vintage Seng swivel dowel base that we have listed in a separate listing. Since this is a table, the top obviously doesn’t swivel. Only the chairs have swivel dowel bases. Once again, this table will need some refurb work and the price already reflects that. Midcentury Herman Miller George Nelson Design circa 1947 conference table 8 feet long with 6 unique small drawers. Absolutely beautiful and amazing table. Never seen another like it, and I have searched and searched for many years to find another. So unique and incredible. The size is large yet perfect. Read the interesting bio of famous designer George Nelson. Dimensions: 8 feet long, 43.5 inches deep, 29 inches high. Near Mint, original condition. It has been kept stored for 25 years in a huge custom built wooden crate. The George Nelson Vitra Design Museum located just outside Basel, Switzerland, said they could not find the table exactly in any catalog, but not all catalogs have been searched. The table is possibly a unique one-off prototype design. The table is also very heavy alone, perhaps 250 lbs. The original Herman Miller George Nelson Design label is intact. All but one are in good condition, as one chair has a cracked seat as seen in the 7th picture. Most have some type of Herman Miller seal and a patents number plate affixed to the bottom. Many have been repaired as in re-bolted seats and backs for its functional use of this era and design. Great set of Herman Miller Industrial design. Some chairs do not have all 4 plastic feet attached to the bottom of each leg. Measures 20″ by 18″ by 30. Seat height is about 14.
