I’ve owned and have been intrigued by this handsome lamp for some time, but my intrigue grew when thumbing through my “Fine Furniture of the 1950s” book and seeing it displayed on page 25 in an ad alongside a Wormley-designed sofa and his iconic model 5309 coffee table. If this lamp was chosen as an accessory to those pieces, its quality and design must be on par with them (or so goes my thinking). The body appears to be made of plaster, the exterior of which seems to have been finished in a coat of lacquer. The disc-form plinth base is made of wood. I see no signatures or marks. If you know who made this piece and would like to share information, I’d be happy to hear from you. Dimensions: 36 tall, as displayed. Body (not including wood base) measures approximately 18″ tall and is roughly 15″ wide at its widest point. Wood base measures 11 in diameter and is about an inch thick. Condition: good condition, consistent with age and use. We see no cracks or repairs, but there are some inconsequential flecks and chips here or there. The lacquer is lifting in two areas around the wriggly ridge. Shade is not included. Will need to be rewired and fitted with new hardware. Thank you for viewing our items!
