Pair of atomic mid-century modern design aluminum tubing sling chairs from the 50’s to the 70’s eras. Manufacturers unknown – no tags or labels survived. Possibly made by Homecraft or Tropitone. Styled similar to Bauhaus design. Photos show frames as they are now with upholstery removed. Photo with the blue material is how we found them – the material was not installed correctly. FLAWS: (Please see photos). There are a few white paint streaks where the chairs have rubbed against a newly painted wall. There is a small blob of paint on the tip of the rockers rail. The stitching on the original Naugahyde seat of the rocker is just starting to come apart at the edges. There are 2 wooden “plugs” missing on the rear chair legs. There is a very thin separation at one of the joints. There are a few dings/dents at the bottom of the chair legs. There is some overall wear as well as dust and a little grime. The above flaws are considered fairly minor and are consistent with age. Most could be repaired fairly easily. I will be happy to answer any questions. Rare pair of “Z Down” chairs designed by Erik Magnussen for Torben Orskov, Denmark 1960’s. Folding tubular chromed steel frame with original canvas sling back and seat. Frames show age appropriate wear and oxidation, no rusting. Canvas is in good shape, upper edge of back on one chair has previous wear/stitching shown in photos, otherwise expected wear from use.
