The fifties were a glorious time for designers. Creativity was at a post-war peak, industrial technologies permitted the use of materials and shapes that would have been impossible only a decade prior. The war had made America very conscious of Europe and this new connection formed a commercial byproduct in the way of increased trade. Danish and Italian designs were making their way overseas and into New York showrooms. The biggest change in lifestyle at this time came from the television. TV was the game-changer and by 1954 it was pervasive. Technology was changing rapidly and certain new products acquired a temporal quality. It was common knowledge that the TV you bought in 1951 would be extremely obsolete by 1955. Progress was non-stop and an expected byproduct of the industrial age! Once designers recognized the enormous market for TV related furnishings – they appeared and in great variety! Here is a Danish modern styled TV cart. These were used to push the heavy television sets around. The style used was pure modern – to fit the modern’new’ nature of television. Thin lines, dynamic angles and here Danish styled exposed wood and brass combine to give a gravity defying appearance! When a heavy television was able to be effortlessly rolled from the living room to the dining area to watch and eat at the same time, a new trend was born – TV at mealtime. This is a very rare example in fine condition for more well-to-do households that were more style conscious and could afford to pay more for a Danish modern TV cart that would impress their friends and guests. The TV cart was the solution to sustaining family harmony! Dad could watch his favorite shows while the kids watched Howdy Doody or Tom Corbett on a portable set pushed into another room! The television cart was the Kindle of its time – and far more cherished in a world with far less entertainment opportunities. This cart is an amazing survivor and works perfectly. A time warp from another period! Most were disposed of with the advent of larger, color television sets. Today, these few remaining mid century artifacts are prized by purists who recreate modern furnished interiors. Because these were temporal objects – like the TVs themselves – there are very few remaining. High style Danish Modern early designs, like this one, are almost never encountered! With the end of broadcast television many wonder what purpose a TV cart serves? We have seen many wonderful Atomic Ranch and showcase Desert Modern homes using these for magazines or laptops when not used for vintage televisions hooked up to blu-ray players, etc. We’ve even seen these used to roll around modern thin screens! This piece can be used as a decorator’s media/entertainment area tour de force! This piece shows some minor wear to the wood and metal finishes. A few scratches and imperfections here and there. No signs of heavy use. The table is like 5 giant lego pieces that can be disassembled and taken anywhere! A highly functional and eye catching piece of vintage modernism. The Parsons table was originally designed by Jean-Michel Frank while working at Parsons Paris, then known as The Paris Atelier. While its form is generally credited to Parsons School of Design in New York City, the table was developed from a course taught at Parsons Paris by the French designer Jean-Michel Frank in the 1930s. Parsons tables are often intended for use as modern or contemporary furniture, their striking and simplistic design has made them quite popular as coffee tables, dining tables, side tables. One of the key features aside from the classic, minimalistic design of a Parsons Table, is that it can be easily stacked or disassembled and reassembled. Rare Green Vintage Majestic Lamp With Fiberglass Shade Large 50s Retro. A very cool very large majestic lamp in a very cool color way the shades are in incredible shape and the colors are fantastic. The base is black but looks to have a green accent its very cool looking the whole lamp is really great I dont want to sell it but I really never use it. Everything is functional its in fantastic shape the only thing I see is at the bottom of the lamp there is a metal bracket that has a small crack this does not affect anything its very small and cosmetic, knob works well. Majestic lamp 30 inches tall 28 wide 13 inches wide is the base 4 1/2 inches deep. Lampshade 14 inches wide all the way around. This is one of their best designs in my opinion very cool details switch is functional plug works and all lights turn on it is a three way switch. The lamp does have where which is normal for how old this is. The brass center is tarnished could be cleaned but still displays very well. The cones overall look really great with the gold details the only thing that is missing is the diffusers witched with time you could find replacements I just face the lights upward and it still looks really great. The bottom has a That goes on the floor so as you can see from the 11th photo it might look a little weird but once you display this lamp that part is hidden. This lamp is pretty tall it measures, about 110 I have lived in a number of apartments especially older ones in Chicago where the ceilings are tall and this thing always worked.
