This is a very rare Mazzega. C Orb vase- Estate Fresh. Typically you will find the undulating three wave pattern, but this is six “leaves” and is much harder to find, especially in the larger size. The bottom of the vase has been slightly ground and polished so it definitely is a vase and not a lighting fixture globe. Although you could certainly drop in a small battery operated light for a really beautiful display. There is no significant wear or loss to the two gold bands that encircle the vase. The vase measures approximately 13″ tall and 13″ wide. There are five small micks in the rim. Two are very very small. I have done my best to photograph them. FEATURED: A rare, fabulous example of why GERALD THURSTON remains the King of Mid Century lighting design, this elegant table lamp, with its rare original opal white frosted globe shade, walnut stand and fittings is both Mid Century Modern with a nod to classic lamp styling. Offering great reading and atmospheric light for your room, this gorgeous lamp, reputed to have been done in 1957, is credited as being made by the famous LIGHTOLIER Co. For whom Thurston designed many, many fabulous lamps for decades… The shade, per our research, is really rare, which is no surprise as it’s over 60 years old, glass and fairly thin, so the survival rate on these was not high. The base, which is a weighted and painted solid metal, sits very stably and evenly on any surface, and secures the walnut stem well. The design is very recognizable as a Thurston design, who seemed to love these architectural shapes and looks, using natural woods and metals such as brass and steel to accent the shapes and create interest in something as basic as a lamp. The large top ring, for example adds a flair to this simple walnut stem, and the arm, which is fixed, adds dimension and space to the lamp. The globe, with its interesting shade, very’Danish Modern’ in looks, further creates interest and style to this very cool piece. The lamp in this listing has the original shade, the top ring, and everything else original, which seems to be elusive to find on the market these days all in one lamp. Lucky the new owner to get all this in one lamp, and enjoy great lighting in his/her home, too! MEASURES: 25 inches from the top of the globe to the bottom, base is 8.25 inches diameter, the globe is 11.75 inches tall, and its diameter is 3.75 inches. We feel sure the globe, as well as the lamp itself, were American made, in the 1950’s. It’s stunning in its height and design, and in great condition. We replaced the on/off knob that was missing, and that was the only thing replaced. The globe is in remarkable shape, with only very minor, typical of age, use/storage rim chips whch could be filed off by a glass restorer if desired. Some very minor surface wear on the base, which is coated with a fiber underneath so that the metal doesn’t scratch a table surface and was factory applied. A truly wonderful, very cool and stunning lamp to have in any room, and one that is so classic and yet so Mid Century Modern in its appeal. This is the lamp your friends are going to be really jealous that they did not find it first, and the lamp you will love having in years to come in your home. Can be hidden from view based on how you position the lamp. Very few examples of this lamp exist. Very stunning based on the design and varied lighting options. 16 Height on the stand. From the Laurel Lamp company. Our nonprofit Foundation’s curator wanted to provide additional information on this piece. Laurel V-1317 described as an imported Ac’cent lamp in polished chrome. 10 diameter opal case glass globe is fully adjustable. At this point in time, our nonprofit Foundation has found no documented relationship between Laurel and Reggiani. However we are still researching. The primary Laurel designers in 1977 were Harold Weiss and Richard Barr. Vtg 70s Paul Mayen Globe Table Lamp Light Mid Century Modern Atomic Retro Rare. Vintage 70s Paul Mayen Table Lamp! -Super rare from the 70s, this lamp screams mid century! -Lamp has a thick acrylic sphere/orb shade that is held to the lamp with 3 chrome spikes that go through the orb and screw in to the lamp base -Travertine stone base, chrome tube, hanging chrome pull on/off switch (hangs from a chain inside the orb) -The orb can also tilt! The light mechanism along with the orb can be tilted if desired, shown in the fourth photo. The lamp is not signed but our research tells us this may have been designed by Paul Mayen, he also made a similar floor lamp. In working condition, the electrical cord is a old one but is working fine. Takes a standard size light bulb. The lamp stands at about 25 tall. The orb has a circumference of 37″ and a diameter of about 12″. The base measures just shy of 5.25 square. The lamp all together weighs just under 8 lbs. Overall the lamp is in very good condition. The orb shade has a yellow tint to it and on top a stronger yellow color which may be from use with light bulbs back in the day getting so hot. The shade also has some very tiny fine speckles on the top only. The travertine base has an irregular corner which may have been chipped or that could be just the nature of the travertine. Gorgeous copper globe floor lamp designed in the same style as the iconic Mirror Ball Floor Lamp designed by British lighting designer Tom Dixon, which sells for several hundred pounds. This is very similar design, though the ball is fixed to the base. The mirror finish reflects the room around it and the shielded bulb throws off subtle mood lighting that is very effective when directed onto a wall. A traditional cord cable completes the mid-century look. It stands about 35cm high and the globe is about 30cm in diamter.
