Even fewer come up for sale, especially in working condition with the original perforated metal diffuser intact. ? The lamp is quality brass with avocado enameled shade and column. The avocado enamel is in good shape. The articulating arm handle is solid with a robust feel. The disk shade is 12 in. The lamp is in good working condition and has light cosmetic wear, normal and consistent with age, this includes some small dings in the base. This light is truly an iconic mid century piece. Fabulous pair of Gerald Thurston Lightolier lamps. These are both in working condition. One looks bigger than the other but that’s because they have two different types of light bulbs in them so the shade comes down lower on the one with the shorter bulb. I measured both and they are 22″ tall from top of the shade to the bottom of the base, the shades are 7″ long and 42 around the fattest section of the shade. The shades are plastic, the base is metal. Other than some dust, these are in great shape, no cracks or anything in the shades, they just need to be wiped down. When turned off the shades are an off white color, when turned on, they are orange color. Very cool midcentury lamps, hard to find a matching pair in this style and in this good condition. Smoke free pet free home.

He let me know that his father lived in Cleveland OH, but went to New York City and Chicago to find furnishings and lamps for his home in the 1950’s. Note: This lamp is attributed to Gerald Thurston’s designs for Stiffel lamp co. Specific to this lamp is the custom shade that the original owner had commissioned for this lamp. From what I’ve been told by the original owner’s son, his father didn’t like the original shade offered and wanted a more “natural” look to the shade, so he had this one made. It features images of wheat, butterflies and scattered dried grass fronds. This lamp has a very unique switch to turn on the 3 light bulbs that the lamp takes. It was designed so that all 3 light-bulbs can be a 3-way bulb with varying degrees of brightness. It’s a very unique switch designed to really customize the brightness to the user! In full disclosure this lamp is not completely in it’s original condition. The owner let me know that he decided to spray-paint the original brass base with black spray-paint in the 1990’s to make it look new again. He didn’t realize that this would affect the vintage value. Is removable & it could be restored for those who are purists when it comes to these lamps. Note too, that on the black spray paint on the lamp, there are a few chips, exposing the original bright brass underneath. There’s also a few chips of the paint on the star-base along the edges of the base armature. Typically, this lamp in its orig. Condition would have been their natural brass color on the base with a white shade and the metal grid cover at the top would also be white. You can see in the pictures that the base is now black and the grid is black on the top facing the ceiling. However, the original white paint is still on the underside of the grid, so if you’re going to have it restored, you have the original color there that you can use as a guide. We’re going to try something for 24 hours. Drastically reduced price on a few of our more popular items for sale (ones with lots of watchers). Let’s see how this sort of experiment goes.. The definition of Mid Century Modern cool lighting is this amazing Gerald Thurston for Lightolier Triennale floor lamp. It is in good condition for its age, but it is by no means perfect. Think fixer upper as far as base in concerned. It does have a few small spots of finish loss on a couple of the brass lamps, and wear and tarnish on the base (please see last few pics for better idea of overall condition-first pic was taken before move). Original wiring (I believe) is very good, the lamps all work (see pic with them on). All lamps still have their original diffusers, and hinges move easily for adjusting. It stands approximately 51 inches tall. We just moved, and during move finish to base was chipped in a couple of spots, I h a v e add updated pics, but please know base has additional damage to the base finish not shown in main photo.
