Rare Hans Wegner Mid Century Danish Modern GE77 Double Daybed Teak Kvadrat Wool
This is an ultra-rare GE77 daybed by Hans Wegner for Getama. The daybed has trundle which allows the piece to turn into a double bed when the back bolster is inserted into the trundle space. Teak and painted wood frame; the back of the piece is grey. Professionally reupholstered in Kvadrat Hallingdal’0200′ fabric in 2019; upholsterer reused original springs. The piece also comes with the original green cotton blanket that extended to cover the seat when used as a daybed. The piece is in solid, functional shape with a few quirks. The back bolster and seat cushion are a tight fit when the daybed is fully extended. There is a 2 divot approx. 1.5″ deep in the bottom base of the daybed and a 1/4″ hole on the right side of the wooden frame. The left metal leg is crooked and one back leg is missing veneer. And while the daybed has been slipcovered since 2019, there are some irregularities and repaired snags in the fabric. NOTE: piece is unmarked but Getama pieces weren’t always signed before the 1970s. 78 1/2″ wide x 26 1/4″ high x 40 deep” x 54″ deep when extended. Double and queen sheets fit. MID CENTURY KNOLL CONVERTIBLE DAYBED SOFA By Richard Shultz Manufactured around 1960, this sofa can be pulled out to convert into a bed. This sofa will need some work. The cushion material on the back support and armrests is disintegrating, The fabric is in pretty good condition but the armrest are a bit worn and need cleaning. On the under side there are 2 metal coils that were used to apply tension to make it easier to pull out the bed but the screws holding them broke out and will need to be reconnected, however, the bed can be converted without them. There are 2 bars that were reconnected with new bolts and nuts. It measures 7′ long, 30 ” deep, 29″ high (top of back), seat cushion is 14 high. It extends 8 pulled out. MidCentury Modern Sofa/ daybed with removable back pillows, featuring drop arms. This rare gorgeous sofa/ daybed is in exceptional condition featuring drop arms and tapered legs. Current color is a green with gold flake which is hard to see on the pictures. Unsure if fabric is original to the piece, with no tears, could be used as is, maybe lightly shampoo, does has some areas (see pictures) or reupholstered. Time period unsure of original date 1960’s? This is a rare sofa/daybed. This lovely Sofa has highly sleek, stylish design that makes it a wonderful example of the Sofa’s highly charming design would allow it to be used brilliantly as a couch, daybed, or settee. The condition of this sofa is secure and sturdy, there are some aging imperfections and there due to its age and as part of its wear and tear, see pictures. Length 61 inches or 5 foot one inch. This is a true vintage, authentic Barcelona daybed manufactured by Knoll. Rare, original champagne leather with minor signs of subtle wear throughout. I provided a picture of the biggest scuff, which appears on one of the corners. This is fixable with sanding and touch up, but I never repaired it because these traces of age give the piece character and history. Overall wear and tear is commensurate with age. The leather is supple. Two of the buttons have been replaced (new buttons are the same as the old ones, provided by Knoll). The condition is very good throughout. The original Knoll Associates label can be found under the mattress. Approximate Measurements: 16″ H x 78″ W x 39 D (without bolster cushion). Height 24 with bolster. Thank you for your time! Early design features a gondola style seat with removable contoured back cushion, angled iron back support, and black wooden splayed dowel legs. Overall minimal wear to fabric from use, no stains or tears, foam still has life. Minor wear to the finish on back support as depicted in photos.
