ITEM : For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare pair of abstract figural table lamps. Circa’50s /’60s. The figures are a ceramic pottery material, and they are a brownish color with green highlights. They each rest atop a biomorphic wooden base that is painted black (see photos). While we aren’t 100% certain on the artist, the figures remind us of Jitka Forejtova, and the wooden bases remind us of Heifetz. Each lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located at the socket. No shades present – it’ll be left up to the purchaser to provide their own. They’re stellar lamps that’ll look great in any interior setting! The female lamp on the left in the photos is approx. 24.75 tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the final). 17.75 to the socket from the bottom of the base. The figure itself is approx. 12″ tall x 7.5″ wide, and her wooden base is approx. 9.5″ wide x 5.75″ deep. The male lamp on the right in the photos is approx. 24.75 tall, and the distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 12.75″ tall x 8″ wide. His base measures approx. 8.75″ wide x 5.5″ deep. CONDITION : Given their age and rarity, we say they’re in overall very good condition. The female lamp has a few imperfections which we’ll mention now. First off, it appears she had a careful repair done to her outstretched hand by a previous owner (see photos). It isn’t readily noticeable unless you are looking for it, but it is there, and is being mentioned for accuracy. The top side of the wooden base that she rests on has some minor paint loss (see photos). The other figure doesn’t appear to have any issues, nor does its wooden base – no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring looks original with no issues to report – no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always suggest having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe. RARE MID-CENTURY MODERN ABSTRACT SILVER FLYING FIRE SCULPTURE BRANCUSI STYLE. Sellers Notes: Rare piece. I have only seen 2 other “Flying Fire” sculptures offered on the internet on luxury platforms. I priced this piece very reasonably. Presenting a magnificent, mid-century abstract modern silver “Flying Fire” sculpture rarely seen on the internet. It was a statement piece that stood in front of a large floor to ceiling window. Circa late 1960’s. Highly reminiscent of Rene Brancusi’s modern abstract sculptures. This piece is large in stature and is 28 high and commands attention. It is bold, imposing and intriguing. You can’t take your eyes off of it. It has a magical quality. The flying fire or abstract flames ebb and flow in the air. Entrenched in duality; strong yet graceful. Light wear appropriate to the age of the piece. Any sign of wear blends seamlessly into the ornate pattern of the sculpture. There is one 1.5 black mark on the back. It is not noticeable because the front is on display. Will be perfectly packed for a safe arrival. Sculpture Measurements: Height 28″ x Width 24″. Base Measurements: 10.5″ x 8″. 2002, located in Central Florida. Isn’t this fantastic? Such a fantastic mid-century modern aesthetic here. Brass is becoming so popular again, especially vintage brasses. I want to assign it to the Hollywood Regency category of design but it could work in so many different decors fluently. The plug doesn’t look scary like so many that you find on these older lamps. You can have fun picking out your own lampshade since that is not included. I’m visualizing a kind of subtle paper IKEA lamp shade but let your imagination run wild. I did not attempt to clean the brass but let it in the state with the patina. I know a lot of designers are very particular about the cleaning process. So I will leave that to you. Do you think it is a Chinese character or a kanji one (the languages share characters)? The base is composed of two pieces that slide apart easily. The height of the base is approximately 10.5 in and the lamp as shown with a bulb in it is 19 inches. The bulb is just shown for photographic purposes to demonstrate full height and bulb is not included. This is just such an exciting piece to me because one really encounters a rarity like this. With MCM decor being white-hot, this is a wonderful find for a designer or interior decorator or just anyone who loves to beautify their home with design classics of yesteryear.
