This is a fabulous mid century coffee table made in Italy. (Kagan style) The structure is sound and good. The tile is great and grouting seems to be all there. Some minor wear, surface gloss has some wear, gloss is worn off in some place from use and a couple small chips and one tile looks to be repaired. The blue and lighter blue tiles all have some crazing. Check out the pictures! Came from an estate sale, so had been stored away for many years in a barn. There looks to be a signature (picture) on the bottom. The wood is in great shape with no stains etc. 73″ long 21″ wide 13 1/2 high. In mostly excellent condition with some undulations and tarnishing in the brass areas consistent with age. Size of box is 8 1/4″ x 6″ x 1 3/4. Bottom is brass footed and marked, Handwrought Salvador Hecho en Mexico 415. Heavy weighs about 3 pounds. Lid opens & closes nicely. Great colors and a fine looking unique Teran piece. RARE Søholm wallhanging Rare to find piece by Gerd Hiort Petersen! This stunning wall plaque is by Danish ceramist Gerd Hiort Petersen (1937-) and is one of her very first pieces for the famous Søholm pottery on the Danish island Bornholm. It has an almost sculptural surface showing two women with a huge plant in the middle – probably a kind of fertility motif. It´s from the 1960s and the vibrant blue glaze is so typical for Søholm pieces from this period. It´s the same blue as also in known from Einar Johansens Blue Series. But here it´s even more vivid because of the very structured surface. Very good used condition One small glaze loss at outer rim, right side bottom – see image Otherwise no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs height: 10.2 inches / 26 cm width: 12.6 inches / 32 cm depth: 1.6 inch / 4 cm weight: 3025g + wrapping About the artist Gerd Hiorth Petersen was born on the island Bornholm and was the first female potter apprentice on Bornholm when she came to Michael Andersen & Sons pottery in 1954. She studied a couple of years at Akademie für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria and also a couple of years at the Danish School of Arts & Crafts in Copenhagen. She has worked for Royal Copenhagen and Søholm Pottery. From 1973 she has run her own ceramic studio together with her husband Hans Munck Andersen on Bornholm. Just also mention your destination. Rare and impressive pair of Mid-Century Modern large lamps designed by Paul McCobb in 1957 for the Distinguished Designer Series by the Pomona Manufacturing Company, featuring inset “Roulette” glazed ceramic tiles in the original red-orange hues. Each lamp features a triangular solid walnut body with brass toned decorative elements. The original triangular shades, restored with brand new linen, follow the lines of the lamps, giving the objects an even stronger personality, and making them truly unique conversation pieces. Other notable designers that were hired to create tiles for the series were Dorothy Liebes, Saul Bass, Paul Laszlo, Millard Sheets, Dong Kingman and George Nelson. Height listed below is to the top of the shade; height to socket is 31.5 inches. Shades height 18 inches, width 23 inches. Literature: Art & Architecture, June 1957 issue, two page Pomona Tile ad. In overall good original vintage condition. May show some signs of wear, marks, etc. Consistent with age and use.
