With a tall, slender silhouette, it measures 31 inches in height at the top of the socket and 6 inches in diameter, making it an elegant statement piece. The lamp features a colorful geometric glazed design contrasted with a beige matte finish and bronzed metal accents on the neck and base. This is a beautiful vintage piece with some typical wear, including some minor chipping on the glazed ceramics and spotting along the metal base. Overall it’s in wonderful condition. The tree will need to be assembled, which is very easy to do. It will also be arriving in a small-ish box as they compact down very tightly. Rare, extra large vintage tinsel Christmas tree in a warm, sparkly gold! The tree is from New Zealand and is possibly from the N. Condition: Overall good vintage condition. I believe one branch at the bottom is missing. Some of the branches may be snug or slightly loose in the wooden holes, but they all fit! Branches can me molded into the positions desired. Some may be slightly crooked, but can be bent back if needed. Tinsel bits to be expected at the bottom of the box. Tree trunk may lean slightly at first, but the center poles can be rotated until it balances. The wooden poles fit together, but you have to twist the metal dowels in as its a snug fit. Please note this is vintage tinsel, not aluminum metal (the stand is aluminum).

Beautiful walnut wood selection in a finish that Nakashima called “Sundra”, meaning “thing of beauty” in Sanskrit. In excellent condition overall. Measures 51″ wide x 43″ high x 4 deep. Geroge Nakashima was an MIT-trained architect who described himself as a “Japanese Shaker” – an expression of his interest in creating unadorned, functional objects. He also believed in pursuing a revival of lost crafts and practices, like traditional Japanese joinery and the use of natural materials. Please reach out for additional photos of the piece.

The weighted base plate has become dislodged. I wanted to keep this 100% original so I didn’t want to damage the bottom padding and label to loosen the bolt underneath it to straighten it. Should be easy to correct. It’s difficult to see in the pics, but the dislodged bottom is making the lamp lean slightly. As shown in the pics, the small piece of glass over the bulb and one tiny clamp is missing.

Superb book on the Fifties Modern furniture of Belgian designer Jules Wabbes. Compiled by his daughter. Wabbes’ designs pursued a rich and refined aesthetic, both sleek and sensuous, warm and yet rigorous, employing chrome, brass, and exotic woods. Extensively researched and abundantly illustrated with both period and contemporary photos of both private work and commercial designs by his firm Mobilier Universel (comparable to design firms by Edward Wormley, Jens Risom, and Carlo Mollino), which included Sabena Airlines, the US Embassy in Belgium, and the 1958 Expo. Showcases bureaus, tables, chairs, consoles, lighting, industrial fixtures, and more, including some recently reissued designs. One of few books on this vastly overlooked designer.
