RARE Early Vintage 1950's George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut
D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE Early Vintage 1950’s George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut. Listed for sale is an original pair of George Nakashima captain’s chairs, never refinished and in gorgeous original condition. Uniquely, the two chairs vary dimensionally from more recent examples produced at the Nakashima Studio. Per the last two photos in this listing, the chairs were both brought to Mira Nakashima for authentication and assessment. Due to the informal nature of production in the 1950’s, Mira believes these to be early examples prior to George deciding on a single specific dimension. She also believes that they very well may have been special ordered for a couple with one taller and one shorter individual. As a result, the backrest crests vary from one another. Mira will be providing a written letter, which will be made available to you upon purchasing the chairs. Furthermore, I have an order card (not specifically mentioning these chairs, as it was a later order card) from the Nakashima Studio from the same family, as this came from an estate with many Nakashima pieces. The price listed is for one chair. Both chairs are available. And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. I work with a shipper locally who has great prices and has been complemented often on their superb packing. D ROSE MOD was founded in order to pursue a passion for modern design. Authentic George Nakashima Sundra for Widdicomb Set of 4 Chairs Rare Walnut
Listed for sale is an authentic set of four black walnut chairs by George Nakashima. The chairs were crafted by Widdicomb furniture in Grand Rapids, MI. They are rare and exceptional examples of George Nakashima’s earliest work. Soon after Nakashima came to Pennsylvania, he began building his studio. At this time, he also produced designs for Widdicomb and and created the Sundra series, which used both solid hardwoods and exotic burl veneers in an effort to produce stunning quality pieces. It accompanied an entire dining room set, which you can inquire about if desired. These chairs show no signs of damage and show signs of age, but not damage. The patina is rich and lovely. Much like the conoid chairs, these are made from black walnut with hickory spindles. As you may note, these chairs are prototypes in a sense for the conoid chairs. The chairs are signed George Nakashima and Sundra is hand written on the undersides. And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to send me a message. I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
