Prie-Dieu booth with seat and adjustable book holder. This rare, unique, style of prie-dieu, equipped with a leather upholstered kneeler, red fabric upholstered seat, and adjustable wooden book holder, is enclosed in an oak booth with a 24 wide opening in one side. The exterior walls of the booth are decorated with evenly spaced vertical wooden square rods. The wood has a rich brown stain, highlighting the gorgeous grain patterns of the oak. With use of 2 pegs, the book holder can be removed or adjusted to 5 different heights from 30″ to 36″ if measuring from the lower lip of the holder to the floor. This piece is in good condition with wear consistent with the age of the piece. Salvaged from the circa 1964 Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria, Virginia, this piece and other items from this church are featured on Season 10, Episode 4, of the DIY Network show, “Salvage Dawgs”. Item Measurements: 63(L) x 27(W) x 28(H) (w/o book stand, with book stand overall height is 38 3/4″ overall length is 68″). Round cylinder type metal shade believe it is brass or brass plated non magnetic pierced has a diameter of 18 1/2″ and a width of about 6 1/2″. Each has 6 porcelain sockets for standard bulbs. They also have a Metal bullseye light diffuser on the bottom to divert the light into numerous directions. The lights are about 21 tall and the chains which are different sizes all relatively short can certainly be adjusted to the desired length. Chains are not included as they are not usable. All of the lights need cleaning / polish and some may need wire work even though they all did work the day I took them off of the ceiling. Each has a ceiling cap original to the piece. The little crosses are held on with a small screw and nut and were added without doing damage to the shade, can be removed. The Maker is not known but there was several partial Underwriters Laboratories tags with the name Charles Wagner MFG CO ING Middleton street Brooklyn NEW YORK. These were several different lengths as they were hanging on a sloped ceiling. There is some type of design symbol unknown if it is religious in nature midway up the fixture almost like a peace sign. They cannot be combined due to the size and that you want them to arrive in one piece. THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE CEILING FIXTURE THERE ARE 8 AVAILABLE. These were in a side building to a 1920s catholic church built later, as per the fixtures. I also have a few flush mount matching design fixtures that I have not been able to get to list inquire if interested.
