RARE Arthur Espenet Carpenter teak bowl signed and dated'56
A hand-turned old growth teak bowl with very thin sides that measures 8 1/4″ diameter X 4″ tall. It is signed “Espenet” “Teak” and dated “’56”. The bowl has (3) brass plugs on the bottom to fill the holes left by the screws that attached the blank to the lathe. The sides of the bowl are extremely thin. Very hard to find another bowl by Espenet inscribed with the date. In good original condition with untouched original surface. Arthur Espenet Carpenter (1920 -2006) was an important early proponent of Studio Woodwork in Bolinas, CA. In 1950 his work was chosen for the MoMA’s Good Design Exhibits.

RARE ARTHUR UMANOFF MID CENTURY MODERN. ROUND STOOL BLACK VINYL. From 11/25 until 11/30. Any orders taken place during that time period will be processed when I return. Arthur Umanoff and his Stools. Umanoff stools, particularly from the Mid Century (1950’s-1960’s) are highly sought after by collectors. I believe the spindles on this example are made out of walnut. When I found this example, it had been in storage for a number of years. I haven’t even taken the dust off of this. It did have a few small paint smudges on it that have since been removed, (bottom of pic 1) & the tiniest piece of vinyl missing on the top. Usually when I find these they are almost always cracked, this example is the most solid of this stool I’ve ever seen. Design Philosophy and Materials. Umanoff’s designs championed natural materials and sought to merge form and function. He was particularly known for his innovative use of wrought iron, often combined with wood or rattan, creating pieces like his iconic Slat Bench and various stools. His work was influenced by Scandinavian design, especially the Danish modern style.

Mid-Century Modern Designer Arthur Umanoff FROM Mid 20th Century 1950’s-1960’s. Made of Walnut and metal insert for trash. Very good conditionCondition. Minor wear consistent with age and use. Amazing vintage, rare and hard to find, Arthur Umanoff for Howard Miller walnut wall clock. This clock is absolutely stunning, the walnut wood is gorgeous and in good condition with a few very small chips and dings, please see photos. Some of the white pieces that mark the numbers have some paint loss, but all are attached and display pretty well. The clockworks and hands appear to be replacements and unfortunately not the originals that wouldn’t come with this clock. I have not tested it. It measures 17 3/4″ x 15 3/16″. Mcm, mid century modern, modernist.
