D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE 1960’s Vintage Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman 670 671 Ivory 2. Listed for sale is an original vintage 1960’s Herman Miller Eames lounge chair and ottoman. The set is in excellent condition and has beautiful Brazilian rosewood panels along with supple leather cushions. This chair has the notable and very rare custom-ordered ivory leather upholstery. Almost all of these early examples were black leather with a few brown examples around (and other colors very sparsely). They are soft and properly plump. No tears or rips are present on any of the cushions. Some wear and light scratches. As the ivory color fades somewhat. Unevenly, these cushions were professionally re-dyed back to their original color and matched to sample. To be clear, these are the original cushions and have not been re-upholstered. The rosewood shells are in excellent condition. Gorgeous original panels and light wear. The shock mounts appear to be holding strong and are in nice shape. The aluminum bases are in great condition. The feet move nicely, paint is all there, and aluminum looks great. Note: Another matching set is available if you are interested in two sets. The other example is earlier (dates to the mid 1950’s) but came from the same original family. I assume the second set was ordered a few years later to match, as the original leather color is identical. And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. Powder coated finish has nice patina and shows some wear. The table top pieces show some wear also, but are in nice shape. Enameled finish is holding up nicely for such an old piece. RARE LIMITED EDITION “TOTAL BLACK” ELIO MARTINELLI LUCE COBRA LAMP IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. 15.75″ by 15.75″. Created in 1968 by Elio Martinelli, the Cobra lamp flaunts bold lines and an iconic profile ahead of its time. As a native of Lucca, Italy, Martinelli graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in the not too distant Florence, where he studied set design before returning to his hometown to design the interiors of public buildings. Between one commission and the next, illumination grew to become an ever-present aspect in the young creatives work, featuring signature pieces made by the designer himself. From his small laboratory in Piazza Bernardini, Martinelli developed innovative experiments that would later inform his revolutionary career in the field of lighting. It was there, in fact, that the designer first created the iconic Cobra lamp with its sinuous and dynamic lines, showcasing a surprising mix of creative intuition and experimental production. Following the economic boom of the early 1960s, Italy was infiltrated with an unadulterated sense of enthusiasm, which the designer embraced by experimenting with new exciting materials: polymers. To better frame the innovative nature of his work, consider Giulio Natta, a researcher with the Politecnico di Milano, would take home a Nobel Prize just one year later for his studies of the plastic materials. While less theoretic, Martinellis experimentations led to one of the first lights ever created using a molding system, producing two pieces printed entirely in white resin for the Cobra lamp. Martinelli has also produced the Cobra table lamp in a limited edition of 300 total black. As a seemingly straightforward table lamp with a downward facing light, the Cobra hides brilliant geometric solutions behind a striking profile. Well ahead its time, the creation opened doors to explore new formal and materialistic options for lighting design. Inscribed within a sphere, the geometric form of the Cobra lamp is both simple and pure. With a subtle rotation, however, the same harmonious design becomes dynamic and bold, sweeping the light source in the other direction and changing the lamps axis. Featuring a central joint for 360° rotation, the two resin bodies can spin on a steel base, while the interior reflector is made of white painted aluminum. Altering the lamps dimension, Martinellis fresh take on transformer design is truly one of a kind with a strong presence and decidedly characteristic profile. This stunning Danish modern styled Acrosonic (Serial# 745799) has become the iconic must-have model. This particular piano is rare due to its limited-edition release in the early 1960s. It’s Danish modern tapered legs, solid wood cabinet, and clean, simple design make it as much a work of art as it is a beautiful playing piano. This piano is in excellent vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age. The cane is complete, original, and in excellent condition on both the front and back with no nicks or tears. The original Baldwin and Acrosonic stamps are still in perfect condition. Also becoming hard to find, the included bench is the original and has been reupholstered. A beautiful instrument and the perfect décor for your home if you enjoy mid-century, Danish modern design of the Eames era. Dimensions – L: 60″ x W: 26″ x H: 36. Three main platforms is made of. Plywood with a light grey, cream and black Formica tops. They are set at slightly different heights and fixed in a triangular structure by three solid oak legs that thread through the platforms. Very rare and not seen before. Makers mark is on the bottom. The Plant Stand is in very good condition. Some light scratches to the Formica and some staining to the plywood underside. However this could be lightly sanded out. Although we strive to give as accurate a description as possible, patina and age-related wear are to be expected. However, we will always indicate any noticeable defects.
