Vintage MCM Silver Chrome Mid Century Modern Atomic Mod Light Table Lamp RARE
Beautiful original MCM table lamp. Base is about 13 diameter at its widest point. Not sure of brand. Chrome is really nice but could use a little chrome polish to get minor spotting out. Have no idea of exact age of this lamp but power cord appears to be an older type. Newer lamp shade is included and is not vintage. Works and looks great! This item is in the category “Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps”. The seller is “mustangmike1″ and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.

RARE Vintage Mid Century Modern Brutalist Sculptural Table, Paul Evans Style
This is a spectacular and very RARE. Vintage Mid Century Modern. Brutalist Sculptural Paul Evans style coffee table. The bronze and resin composite base is in extraordinary condition and shows beautifully with its deep dark bronze patina. There are a few extremely minor areas of scuffing on some edges of the table base please see photos. The table retains its original glass measuring approximately 59″ x 29 1/2″ x 3/4 inch thick. The table base (not including the glass) is approximately 48″ x 18″ x 15. The glass is in excellent condition for age, with a few small flea bite chips at the corners and a few small light scratches. I could not find a signature on this piece, but perhaps you recognize the designer or their work? This certainly looks like a Paul Evans table and may very well be. This is a magnificent piece of genuine Brutalist decor and would make a profound statement in any home. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks! Which derives from the French word. Meaning “raw” – was coined to describe an architectural style that emerged in the 1950s featuring monumental buildings, usually made of unornamented concrete, whose design was meant to project an air of strength and solidity. Essentially created the brutalist style; its best-known iterations in the United States are the Marcel Breuer-designed Whitney Museum of American Art and Paul Rudolph’s Yale Art and Architecture Building. Lately, the word “brutalist” has been adopted by the realms of furniture design and the decorative arts to refer to cabinet’s, tables and accessory pieces such as mirror frames and lighting that are made of rougher, deeply textured metals and other. Materials that are the visual and palpable antithesis of the sleek, smooth and suave. Brutalist design encompasses that which is crafted, hewn and worked by hand – an aesthetic rebuke (or, at least, a counterpoint) to furniture that is created using 21st-century materials and technology. Paul Evans is Exhibit A. His Sculpture Front cabinets laced with high-relief patinated steel mounts have become collector’s items nonpareil, while the chairs and tables in his later Cityscape series and Sculpted Bronze series. Are perhaps the most expressive, attention-grabbing pieces in modern American design. Other exemplars of brutalist design are Silas Seandel. The idiosyncratic New York furniture designer and sculptor whose works in metal – in particular his tables. Have a kind of brawny lyricism, and Curtis Jere. A nom-de-trade for the California team of Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels. The bold makers of expressive scorched and sheared copper and brass mirror frames and wall-mounted sculptures. The names of other brutalist designers are, so far, unknown to history. When it comes to attitude and commanding presence, brutalist design has it in spades. Its primary gestation began in the 50’s from the architectural movement known as New Brutalism, which evolved from the use of concrete as a building material to create monumental statements adapted from modernist ideals. Raw concrete in French is. Which was a source of the name. Its use in architecture and sculpture added a confrontational rawness to it, which influenced the evolution and style of brutalist movement in the 60’s and 70’s. Brutalist art drew inspiration from the likes of Le Corbusier’s architecture to the sculptures by Alexander Archipenko, Constantin Brancusi and Alberto Giacometti. With sculpture, conflicting asymmetrical geometries merged with mayhem and menace, usually constructed from raw forms of metal and clay, to essentially define the brutalist aesthetic. It went on a tangent to the Mid Century modernism where you had artists like Paul Evans creating audacious, brash, heavily textured furniture with pure abandon. Brutalist architecture was quite often represented with repetitive angular geometries to a massive scale. It also was reactionary in the sense that the early Brutalism architects found the streamlined modernist designs too symmetrical and neat and wanted to introduce more abstract and unpredictable shapes to their brutalist buildings. The radical brutalist art had an element of risk to it and pushed the boundaries of abstract expressionism in modernist art. Rather than being easy on the eye it is more antagonistic and even hostile, and a challenge for interior designers to integrate into any location. But for giving life into an inert environment, a brutalist piece is synonymous with edgy dynamics and primal honesty. This item is in the category “Art\Art Sculptures”. Rare Mid Century Modern Edward Wormley Dunbar Walnut Corner Bookcase Console 38
Mid century modern Edward Wormley for Dunbar Furniture corner cabinet bookcase or record console. Made of walnut featuring modular cubist “L” shape form with five tapered metal legs. Founded in 1910, Dunbar Furniture established a reputation for providing quality handcrafted products. The original Dunbar products were fine horse drawn buggies but with the invention of the automobile the company transformed into creating fine furnishings for the home. In 1931, Edward J. Wormley joined Dunbar as a young designer. Wormley’s knowledge of furniture history and his global perspective became key in Dunbar’s sucess over the next three decades. By the middle of the 20th century, Dunbar and Wormley had become true icons of American furniture design. The company participated in the 1950 Good Design exhibit with the Museum of Modern Art and dominated for the next three years. Dunbar and Wormley’s legacy remain today as the company continues to produce for a growing international audicence. Vintage Dunbar Furniture Chairs Tables & Cabinets remain popular worldwide. Born in rural Illinois in 1907, Edward Wormley’s interest in design originated early in life and led him to later study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Due to financial reasons, Wormley dropped out after 2 years and began his first job in an interior design studio before joining the Indiana-based Dunbar Furniture Company where he served as director of design for nearly 40 years. Following World War II, Wormley became an independent consultant branching out to design textiles, globe stands, and showrooms. He designed award winning collections for Drexel Furniture Company and was included in the Good Design shows of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Characteristic of his design elements were functional engineering, decorative laminated plywood, and unconventional upholstery. Wormley characteristically honored aesthetic qualities, following influences of Scandinavian modernism, while maintaining utilitarian qualities and “designing for the needs” of others. His work is timeless and of the highest quality. Wormley died in 1995, but his legacy is celebrated in collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montreal. Good vintage condition, wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, edge / veneer wear, scuffing, light finish loss. 27″ x 27″ x 38. The sooner you pay, the sooner you get your item. Rare Mid Century Modern Lucite Floor coffee Lamp spun gold maxwell modern. This is a good deal! Make me an offer don’t wait spun fiberglass. Crowd favorite, The Spaghetti Lamp! Often found in smaller, and more “quaint” versions, the Lucite “spaghetti” shades practically symbolizes retro Atomic Era lighting! This particular floor lamp features one Lucite shade, which is removable. Once illuminated, especially in a dark room, the light is absolutely memorizing. The sockets are embellished with brass bottoms as well as teak wood ends, which are styled to perfection with minimal wear shown. The pole of the lamp is faux wood, as well as the base, which was commonly seen during this era. You will find expected wear as shown in our photos, although the light is in very nice condition for its age – A great collectors piece. The table has wear, needs a new clip to keep it steady.. And I personally would remove it.. What a great piece. For every 15 followers I will send out coupons to everyone. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps”.
