Please check out my other items for sale! Vintage 1960’s Jens Risom aluminum group armless sofa. This rarely seen aluminum framed sofa is absolutely stunning. Reupholstered a few years ago in exquisite Grey Knoll Velvet (Mohair). Minimal flourishes include an aluminum back bar, and a nine button seat back. Note seat imperfections hence the low price. This sofa is the most comfortable armless sofa you’ll ever sit on. It measures 6’6″L x 32″ T x 31″D, with a seat of 15 1/2″ at it’s highest point. The foam and suspension are excellent. The frame is very nice and would polish up even nicer (we like the patina). The velvet fabric is the most forgiving upholstery we’ve ever seen. It hides almost all of the minor scuffs and scrapes from use. Teflon glides pictured were just temporary. There is one, very small (like less than 1/8 round) hole that does not go all the way through the fabric, located on the front of the seat of the sofa, left side (facing the sofa). Only noticeable if you are looking for it. It cannot be seen in any of the photos. Overall, excellent vintage condition. Rare American EDGAR BRITTON Mid Century Modern Walnut Door 1962
A vintage, mid century modern single door by American artist Edgar Britton, with eight small windows of varying, quadrilateral shapes. The wide door surround is carved with a sun, two birds, leaves, fish, the moon and a star, Zonta Chapel, a horse and turtle. The surround retains the original black and grey baseboard. The handle is carved is a Z-shape. Born in Nebraska, Edgar Britton was a painter, muralist and sculptor. He worked in Iowa with Grant Wood from 1920-24 and then moved to Chicago in 1925, where he worked on various architectural commissions. Due to health reasons he moved to Colorado in 1942 where he remained until his death. Britton taught at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center and focused mainly on creating sculpture during this period. Edgar Britton (American, 1901-82). Carved monogram (lower right): EB. This beautiful modernist bull bank was designed by Japanese ceramicist Yusuke Aida who worked with David Gil at Bennington Potters in the early 1960s. Later reproduced in japan after Aida relocated there. Condition of the piece is near to perfect. I believe the stopper is original. It’s somewhat supple but loose in the hole. David Gil Coop Designs Bennington Mid Century Abstract Stylized Bird Bowl. Early Abstract Stylized Bird Bowl by David Gill. David Gil is a very well known ceramic artist of the mid 20th century. This is a abstract stylized bird bowl (looks like a chicken) by David. It is a rare, seldom seen form from his earlier period. Piece has 1 damage, 1 tip of tail feathers knocked off. Note last 2 photos for location. It has no glaze bubble or pops , no stilt marks. It is 5″ tall, 10″ wide, 4.38 deep. It has a beautiful spalted like green/blue & brown glaze. Collaboration was a driving force for him as he began his career in the late 1940s. The first phase was began in an unheated barn and was called Cooperative Design or Coop Design that is part of the mark on the bottom. Gil won many awards in the 1950s and work was exhibited internationally. He was still highly collected in the 1960s after he changed the name of the studio to Bennington Potteries. All drawers are nice clean and working. It has one mark on door front as shown in pictures. I also have a smaller desk that could be used with this one for sale listed. These can be set up in many different configurations. This is just a amazing set!!! It has that great floating top. This is a very cool vintage Ekornes Montana leather and teak sofa. It has some wear from age and use but no holes or tears in the leather etc.. Overall it is a very cool looking and incredibly comfortable piece. It measures 82″ long x 34″ tall x 36 deep.
