Weight: Approximately 20 lbs. The sculpture has a few minor imperfections. The tip of the jousting rod is chipped, and it is loose from the back, sliding in and out, but it may be possible to touch up or secure. There is also a small chip on the back of the left elbow, but it is toward the back and not visible from the front. There are some paint chips throughout the sculpture (please see photos for full details on condition). A really rare sculpture of a monkey in ceramic designed by Gunnar Nylund at Rörstrand with a lovely glaze. It is 21 x 14 cm (8,4″ x 5,6) and 16 cm (6,4″) high. It is in mint condition and comes with the original wooden base. Gunnar Nylund was born in Paris 1904 with parents who worked as sculptors and designer so he really soon started hos own career as designer for the Danish brand Bing & Grondahl where he worked until 1928. After that he together with Nathalie Krebs established the ceramics workshop Saxbo in Denmark. In 1931, Gunnar Nylund was then asked to start working for Rörstrand in Lidköping, Sweden. He worked there until 1955, most of the time as artistic director. After Gunnar Nylund Carl-Harry Stålhane became the artistic director for Rörstrand. Gunnar Nylund freelanced for Rörstrand for many years after 1955.
