Find another’ as they say. SOLID STATE STEREO TRANSISTOR RADIO. ORIGINAL PYE ELEVEN ELEVEN MANUAL. MW SW LW FM 88-108Mhz. DESIGNED BY ROBIN DAY. The legendary designer Robin Day of the Festival of Britain Fame and. Won the Duke of Edinburgh Design Centre Award in 1966. Very impressive timeless design. You wont find much if anything on the internet besides the odd picture of this table top radio. The Pye Museum, The Design Centre Archives and The Science Museum don’t have one only images of the mono set 1108. This the 1111 model being the much rarer model for which won the award. Condition – Externally it is in very good used shape for its age seeing as it is around 55 +years old, it turns on lights up , volume, tone work and it can be tuned, these have an internal aerial however depending on locality, for weak or distant stations the usual external aerial is recommended. The radio will need a service and the usual refinishing of the gloss paint to the inside of Perspex cover (and on/off button as seen on most all the 1108 models online) which has been allowed for in the price to turn it into a great fully working extremely rare timeless appreciating designed radio. The additional speaker is working but intermediately so can only presume it may only need a resolder when serviced – hair line cracks in knobs. It has never been abused and always correctly stored when not in use for the past good few years. Please study the pictures for condition as they form part of my description and ask for more if required. Dimensions : 2 ft 10 inches long in total x 8 inches high x 7 inches deep approx. Was one of the most significant British furniture designers of the 20th century, enjoying a long career spanning seven decades. An accomplished industrial and interior designer, he was also active in the fields of graphics and exhibitions. Robin was sought out by the cabinet-making firm of S. Hille & Co, and began a partnership that flourished over the ensuing decades. Hitherto the company had specialized in reproduction furniture, but with the ambitious young designer on board, Hille completely changed direction and embraced modern design. During the 1950s Robin developed an extensive collection of designs for Hille, ranging from utilitarian stacking chairs and tables, to easy chairs and bed settees, to modular storage units and desks. While some of these were for domestic settings, the emphasis was increasingly on the contract market, with organic shapes gradually supplanted by more angular and rectilinear forms. Robins aim was to create simple, understated, functional forms in modern materials with a clearly articulated structure. Commercially successful and creatively distinguished a rare combination his furniture particularly appealed to architects and was championed by the Council of Industrial Design. Very good condition cabinet, base and all functions are normal. Original Speaker cloth is in excellent and original condition but has come loose in a couple places, can be re-tucked by investing some calories. The radio works normally except for some light static when adjusting the controls which is easily remedied with DeOxit. The turntable functions normally but it came to us with no needle / cartridge so it need a replacement. On the rear dust cover there is an area that got bumped and lost a 3 chunk of plastic, it cannot be seen without going behind the unit. The most important flaw to this piece is the dried out and brittle power cord. We successfully tested the piece with it but it need to replaced, a relatively inexpensive and non complicated repair. 56″ wide x 26 1/4″ x 11 1/2 deep. (You can see the Copal motor spinning to the right of the green number’s through that little square opening) Pretty Cool I must say. Size is: 9″&1/4 inches across(10″&1/2 inches across to knob ends). 3&1/2 inches tall. Weights 3 pounds 8 ounces by itself before any packaging. Clock runs on 120 Volt US Current. “Condition Description” 11 Photo’s available for viewing condition. This clock is pretty clean all around with no major damage to case-meaning no cracks and no repairs. Has some little marks here and there like most alarm clocks. The White case was deep cleaned the right way to bring back it’s original white color-like it was in the 1970’s. It’s been cleaned and tuned up & ready for someone to enjoy it for a long time. Has New High Quality Long Long Lasting Bulbs and Resistor in it. You can see these “Flip Clock Numbers from way across the Room” which is nice. The front clear lens is real nice with a few marks but nothing that really sticks out-you can see it in the photo’s. Clock runs great and keeps time-has been tested for a few weeks now and has not lost any time. The volume is smooth with no scratchy noise’s. The Alarm works fine With the nice Sounding “Bird Chirping” which these vintage clock radios are know for and it will wake you up!! The Radio Count down works fine also so you can listen to it as you fall asleep and shuts off automatically. Cord is in nice shape with a few little wall paint marks on it. See last photo showing a few tiny marks to the black strip by dial-really not that bad considering it’s an alarm clock. Packaged well with the nice big bubble wrap and plenty of cushion no worries. Size 12″ inches wide Size 5″&5/8ths inches deep. Size 3&1/4 inches tall. This Clock Radio Runs on the US electric system. “Condition Description” Front lens is real nice with no real damage to speak of but a light rub over the Grundig name. Has some very light marks to front edge right side near top and some small marks here and there but nothing real bad to speak of. No cracks and No Repairs to case. The Clock is Running Fine and Keeping Time No Issues No Sounds. Has a New Quality Made Neon Orange Glow Bulb so you can see the clock Numbers from a good distance in the dark. Has good sound also from the speaker. The Tuner face on these models came with no light and with the beautiful silver face you don’t need one anyway. But all said it’s a beauty with all the looks and the Red is very rare also and not many Grundigs around like this one. Packaged well no worries as this will be wrapped in extra bubble wrap(kind with bigger air bubbles for protection). Very well taken care of unit-was in a home that cared for it dearly.
