Up on offer here is this rare mid-century modern 1960s Scandinavian “Danish” designer three-tiered Flying Saucer pendant light feature believed by Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm for Nordisk Solar in the style of Poul Henningsen lights. Valuable piece of mid-century modern designer lighting.. Built in white metal polished aluminum alloy with a light transparent powder coating giving it a unique surface finish. Hree-tiered structure with four central columns design. Down light central funnel housing the white milk glass Opaline half globe shade. Riginal chrome B22 bayonet fit bulb holder with a B22 Bell LED bayonet fit dimmable bulb. Decorative ventilated upper stem in a central crater on upper tier. Wired in three core silk braided twist cable with cord locks at three places. Earthed, tested, and in perfect working order. Large heavy gauge chrome stepped ceiling plate. Ready to be integrated into an existing ceiling circuit. (no additional parts required; just a space on the ceiling and three standard fixing screws). Looks superb in a modern or traditional setting alike. Very attractive piece of mid-century design when un-lit and a unique piece of designer lighting when lit. For dimensions, please see images. A rare sterling silver topped box. It is hallmarked for London 1985 with the makers marks being BLF for Brian Leslie Fuller. It is also marked with his Glis Glis (Dormouse) trade mark. It has been beautifully designed with the lid being cast with a fox, the base is polished hardwood. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs, the wood is free from chips cracks and repairs. 2.25 inches (5.8cms) tall by over 2 inches (5.5cms) across the base and weighs 61 grams including the base and 36 excluding it. Vintage Mid-Century Modern Desk and Matching Chair by the Rarest of Designers… We understand this is a Florida Furniture Industries Desk with Original Matching Chair! This set was Designed by a very important and very prolific Mid-Century Modern Furniture Designer, who was known as one of the “Top 10 Furniture Designers in the World” from the 1940’s through 1960’s. According to the estate we got this from it is made by Luther Draper. They had other pieces of his in the estate signed Florida Furniture etc. The desk is not signed as far as we can see. First Quality maker and wonderful Danish Modern Lines. A partial list would include, Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Florida Furniture Industries, Eastern Kodak, Abraham & Straus, Phillips-Davis, Founders Furniture, Boling Chair Company, to name just a few! There are lot’s of articles on Mr. Draper on the web… These are just a few excerpts: August 25, 1960, Ocala Newspaper… “Florida Furniture has been in business about 26 years and cuts it’s own lumber and Drapers Designs are around the use of native wood”. “Draper recently designed 2 groups for Henredon, Called “Circle 60″ and “Cherry Casual. Proof that his fame as a designer has traveled far came last year when the Dutch Government invited him to spend 2 months in Holland to consult with Dutch Designers in Developing office furniture with a European Flavor. While in Europe He visited Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Draper has effectively used the Scandinavian style in his design. He points out that the Danish Style that is so popular today is really a modern version of Early American! Minor wear to surface. We sell everything bought from estates directly to you.
