Hutschenreuther Mid-Century RARE Bisque Art Vase by Cuno Fischer
This rare vintage bisque-white Lorenz Hutschenreuther German vase is designed by Cuno Fischer b. It is a superb piece of German op art porcelain. This is one of the most sought after designs by this important German artist. It is embossed on the bottom his signature and with the design number 5115/27. It is 11 high and 3 5/8 inches in diameter at the top. The manufacturing date is circa 1960 and is in excellent condition. This art deco high quality is comparable to that of Rosenthal and Tirschenreuth. The inside has a protective high glaze. The matte bisque vase has raised glyphs designs of decorated leaves and flowers. The design is playful and lyrical. Cuno Fischer was an iconoclastic painter, product and ceramics designer. While in school he earned his livelihood as a circus clown (with the Salvation Army) and as a bar pianist. He not only designed pieces for Hutschenreuther he designed for Rosenthal’s Studio line and Gral Glass Works. Additionally he worked as a set designer at a number of theaters, and published journalistic works such as art critiques and essays. In 1953, Fischer became a member of a southern French gypsy’s family, where he and his wife adopted a gypsy child. In 1963, he and his family moved back to Germany into a generous studio house built according to his own plans. This vase is a fascinating modernist/mid-century vase that makes a great accessory on teak, rosewood or any kind of polished wood! A very expressive work of Porcelain Art, created in the most exclusive Rosenthal-Hutschenreuther ateliers, embellished with abstract-realist theme in rare bisque porcelain, with proper markings. Extremely limited edition by prestigious designer Lorenz Hutschenreuther, in impeccable condition. Measurements: Height-24.5cm (9.64 inches), Diameter-7.5cm (3 inches). A bit of Hutschenreuther history: At the start of the 19th century, a young porcelain painter by the name of Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther from Thuringia went in search of fame and fortune, which he eventually found in north east Bavaria. The young Hutschenreuther had discovered “white gold” (or kaolin) for the production of porcelain, and in 1814 he founded the first modern and private porcelain factory in Bavaria. His aim was to manufacture porcelain’second to none’ for quality and excellence in Germany. Under the management of his son, a second porcelain factory was founded in 1857 in the neighboring town of Selb. More than one hundred years later, in 1969, both companies combined to form Hutschenreuther AG, Selb. By this time, the Hutschenreuther name was already well known especially among connoisseurs and lovers of fine porcelain. Today Hutschenreuther is one of the most important porcelain brands in the world. Modern production technology, combined with traditional craftsmanship, as well as creativity and competence in creation, quality and practicality have all been decisive factors in the success of the brand. In August 1st 2000 the “Lion Brand” Hutschenreuther joined the Rosenthal Group. Two famous companies from Upper Franconia were united under one management and took over the leading position in the German market for high quality porcelain. It is our mission to bring to you quality curated collectible/decorative items, and in the process offering you exceptional 5 star customer service!
