Rare Vintage Andrew Magdanz Art Glass Vase 1970s Handblown

This beautifully shaped and brilliantly colored vase was created in 1978, during Andrew Magdanz’s peak period of individually conceived, executed, and signed works. The vase is 7″ tall and 5″ in diameter, with thick walls of green glass infused with swirls of multi-colored glass. Nationally known not only for his elegant works in glass, but also for his activism in promoting environmentally sound practices and encouraging collaboration among glass artists, Andrew Magdanz is a major figure in the late 20th century studio art glass movement through the present. He has taught at the Pilchuck Glass School, the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the Penland School for Crafts. His works appear in numerous private and public collections around the world, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Hokkaido Museum in Japan, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. One of the photos shows the signature on the bottom of the piece. The date (1978) appears next to the signature on the vase, although it does not show in the photo. Jonathan Adler Couture Line Handmade MCM Style. Made by Jonathan Adler early in his career. Marked Jonathan Adler Couture which is his higher end line and every piece is handmade by him. Nice MCM style vase with no chips and one crack in the inside bottom of the vase as shown in photos. Two manufacturers defects one of which is a minor flaw in the top rim that is not 100% perfect and shows it’s great craftsmanship and that is is handmade. There are also specs/ash pieces in the glaze as shown in photos. Great vintage condition and an amazing collectors piece. I have yet to find one the same as this on the market today. The blue and green painted dots help give this gorgeous piece a pop. Please see all photos for exact condition. Measures 8 1/4″H x 4 5/8″L x 2 3/4W. RARE LARGE LAPID Pottery ISRAEL MID CENTURY Modern By LEA VASE 18 tall handle

The year 1949 was an Important year for the pottery when Dr. Moosberg became a main partner in the factory and the factory changed its original goal of making tiles and sanitary wares – to producing Art Pottery which is the Lapid Pottery most people are now familiar with. Lapid is certainly reminiscent of both Danish and West German pottery at the time, which is probably what attracts me to it.. But at the same time there is nothing else quite like it. What I love about it is the pure Modernist nature of it – with the wonderful patterns, colours and designs. The measurements are about 18″ tall, the diameter of the base is about 6 3/4″ and the measurement across the top including the handle is about 9 1/2 this should be in a museum as it is the largest piece of Lapid pottery I have seen.
