RARE Søholm wallhanging Rare to find piece by Gerd Hiort Petersen! This stunning wall plaque is by Danish ceramist Gerd Hiort Petersen (1937-) and is one of her very first pieces for the famous Søholm pottery on the Danish island Bornholm. It has an almost sculptural surface showing two women with a huge plant in the middle – probably a kind of fertility motif. It´s from the 1960s and the vibrant blue glaze is so typical for Søholm pieces from this period. It´s the same blue as also in known from Einar Johansens Blue Series. But here it´s even more vivid because of the very structured surface. She studied a couple of years at Akademie für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria and also a couple of years at the Danish School of Arts & Crafts in Copenhagen. She has worked for Royal Copenhagen and Søholm Pottery. From 1973 she has run her own ceramic studio together with her husband Hans Munck Andersen on Bornholm. Just also mention your destination.
