Marble Dimensions: Diameter 7. Height without base: 11. A lovely lady puts on a show. Well trained in the art that she loves, she shows off her agility, balance and flexibility. She elevates her long lean leg far behind her. Her finger tips graze her calf and she gracefully outstretches her other slender arm to the sides of her. Her chest pushes out and her head tips forward; basking in the glory of centerstage. Every movement is deliberate and structured, from the tips of her toes to the tips of her fingers. Not even her hair moves without her intention. She trained for many years for the moment when she would be the center of the spotlight. 100% bronze, this handmade brown and is signed. A vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian Brutalist abstract sculpture made of metal copper, welded and in excellent condition. Wear consistent with age and use, circa 1950, Italy. Marcello Fantoni was an Italian designer and producer born in 1915 Florence, Italy and passed away in 2011. In 1927, Fantoni started his apprentice at the Institute of Art at Porta Romana, and received his masters in 1934. Fantoni opened soon his own ceramic studio, where he designed and produced unique pieces. His works were displayed in private collections and in the most important museum of the world. In 1970, he founded the International School of Ceramic Arts in Florence, Italy. Depth: 6.5 in. Mid-Century Modern (Of the Period). Wear consistent with age and use. The figure’s shy, and authentic gaze and her posture suggest a model who is perhaps shy and demure, not used to modeling nude. The most unique and wonderful aspect of this sculpture is her chubby and voluptuous figure, which is perfectly accentuated and modeled in a powerful and dignified way. Truly a beauty to behold. Appears to be made from a red pottery clay, and glazed with a luminous black paint or ceramicist lacquer. This figure likely dates to the 1950’s – 1960’s, but could certainly be much older. It appears to be unsigned. I believe this may have been sculpted by someone very important. Perhaps you recognize the artist? This sculpture in many ways reminds me of the sculptures by famed Mexican artist, Botero. Approximately 5 inches at its widest point x 14 inches at its highest point.
