Rare Vintage George Nelson Full Bed Headboard Storage Mid Century Modern 50s
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare vintage GEORGE NELSON full-sized bed headboard. It has its two original sliding grasscloth doors with round concave metal pulls that open to reveal concealed storage areas on both sides. Also, the entire top of the headboard flips forward on hinges to reveal an extra storage unit that is quite large in size. This headboard is a very solid piece of furniture that is. While it is meant for a full sized bed, we actually used it in our. Guest room with a queen sized mattress, and it looked super nice as well. 56″ wide x 12″ deep x 30.5 tall. The inside of each of the sliding compartments measures approx. 12″ deep x 26.5″ wide. The hinged storage compartment measures approx. 14″ high x 54.25″ wide x 11 deep. Condition: While not perfect, given its age and use, we’d say it’s in very good condition. There are minor surface scratches here and there, but nothing overly objectionable. We conditioned the wood with a spray, and it conceals them nicely. Also, the bottom of the back wood panel shows some signs of light warping (see photos) – it’s on the reverse side at the bottom, so it isn’t really detectable unless you are looking for it. We are solely mentioning this for accuracy. The two sliding panels function properly on their track, and the hinge mechanism to open the storage compartment also functions properly. All of the round metal caps are still attached to the bottom side of each of the legs (see photo). Photographs are available upon request. Mid-Century Modern Full Size Headboard. Paul McCobb Planner Group. Materials: Wrought Iron and Maple wood. H: 55.12 in. W: 35.44 in. D: 9.85 in. Not supplying standard bed rails that will affix. Condition is used but nothing at all compromised. There are two minor imperfections: 1. The wrought iron could use a touch up by easily unscrewing and hitting w semi-gloss black enamel. One picture shows where a paint brush touch the side during house trim painting. This is not a scuff, it is light paint. The wood itself has aged into a beautiful well maintained patina and has a warm sophistication to it. As with mid century designs this is low sitting and ergonomic use of design by this master architect. The mattress will come up to the bottom of the finished maple wood below the top of the unit. That is why you see unfinished wood below closer to the bottom. It serves only as support. This planner group piece is part of the Winchendon collection. It is much more desired than his typical walnut pieces. So use that benchmark when researching. I have shippeda dresser from my state of Oklahoma to Mass. This item is not as big and bulky as that one was but i really dont entirely know what to expect to be honest. Also, using that economical (but very hands on and delicate) service entails waiting until their route of personal deliveries coordinates with their schedule. Whicb means it could take a month, no way to tell at this point. It isnt guess work. My gut feeling thinks it will be much lower.
