RARE Søholm wallhanging Rare to find piece by Gerd Hiort Petersen! This stunning wall plaque is by Danish ceramist Gerd Hiort Petersen (1937-) and is one of her very first pieces for the famous Søholm pottery on the Danish island Bornholm. It has an almost sculptural surface showing two women with a huge plant in the middle – probably a kind of fertility motif. It´s from the 1960s and the vibrant blue glaze is so typical for Søholm pieces from this period. It´s the same blue as also in known from Einar Johansens Blue Series. But here it´s even more vivid because of the very structured surface. Very good used condition One small glaze loss at outer rim, right side bottom – see image Otherwise no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs height: 10.2 inches / 26 cm width: 12.6 inches / 32 cm depth: 1.6 inch / 4 cm weight: 3025g + wrapping About the artist Gerd Hiorth Petersen was born on the island Bornholm and was the first female potter apprentice on Bornholm when she came to Michael Andersen & Sons pottery in 1954. She studied a couple of years at Akademie für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria and also a couple of years at the Danish School of Arts & Crafts in Copenhagen. She has worked for Royal Copenhagen and Søholm Pottery. From 1973 she has run her own ceramic studio together with her husband Hans Munck Andersen on Bornholm. Just also mention your destination. RARE JENS QUISTGAARD VINTAGE DANSK DESIGNS DENMARK , RED ENAMEL COFFEE POT, W/LID, WHITE NYLON CORD WRAPPED HANDLE & BLACK INTERIOR PARTS. Mid-20th century Danish design. This is an earlier vintage Jens Quistgaard designed red enamel coffee pot for Dansk Designs Denmark, which has a slightly creamier red enamel finish than the later red enamel finish of Dansk Designs IHQ France. It’s stamped on the red enamel base plate with the maker’s mark in permanent black ink. Vintage water/juice enamel pitchers by Jens Quistgaard are rare enough and very hard to find but upright, tall, enamel coffee pots with the innards and the lid, well, is about next to impossible to find, even for those of us who have sought Danish enamelware out for decades. The exterior red enamel surfaces are nearly pristine, except for what appears to be the slightest bit of enamel loss right at the top rear extreme of the body, right in front of the handle. The pot otherwise has pristine red enamel surfaces, as well as white interior enamel, free from flea-bites, staining or enamel loss. The white nylon cord wrap on the handle is also in unblemished condition and doesn’t suffer any discoloration or loss. The red enamel lid with Kobenstyle cooling handles is present and clean. Both black interior parts are present but unfortunately the original glass percolator is missing (as found). Exceedingly hard-to-find and in really spectacular, nearly unblemished, pristine condition. 9 ¾ ” Height x 6″ Width (Spout to Handle). 8 ½” Height (w/o lid) x 5″ Base width. RARE SET of 4 BLACK LACQUERED SHELL GENUINE ARNE JACOBSEN “ANT CHAIR” MODEL 3101. MANUFACTURED BY FRITZ HANSEN, DENMARK. This iconic design is rare and difficult to find. These chairs were designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952, and these particular chairs were made by Fritz Hansen in 1972. Manufacturers’ mark and date are on the plastic base plates of each of these four chairs. They are made of black-lacquered shell chairs, and have chromium-plated steel frames with four legs. They are in good vintage condition but do show wear due to age and use on the shells, with wear along the edges and all chairs have minor dents on the seats. They could quite easily be touched up so that the wear becomes unnoticeable, but we prefer to leave restoration to buyers as some want items in an unrestored state.
