RARE Dansk Silver-Plated Rare Wood Pepper Mills-Quistgaard Design -Denmark IHQ
RARE Antique Dansk Silver-Plated Rare Wood Pepper Mill – Quistgaard Design – Denmark IHQ. This is a beautiful and well made butcher block rosewood peppermill by Danish sculptor and designer Jens Quistgaard. Grain of the rosewood is superb. In very good used vintage condition as shown. There is one very small, almost unnoticeable indentation on the wood above the silver plating – see photos. Silver plating has some tarnish which I have not polished out. Pepper mill is approximately 4-3/4 tall and weighs approximately 8 oz. Happy to answer any questions. Here is some background on the designer.. Jens Harald Quistgaard was a Danish sculptor and designer, known principally for his work for the American company Dansk Designs, where he was chief designer from 1954 and for the following three decades. Though a sculptor and grounded in traditional handicrafts, he quickly established a career as an industrial designer. From the mid-1950s his tableware and kitchenware designs became synonymous with Scandinavian modern and found their way into millions of homes in the USA, Europe and Japan. With his international orientation and success he was groundbreaking, and he had great significance for the place which Danish design acquired in the minds of many Americans. In 1958 he received the Neiman Marcus Award and during the following years he was represented at major museums in Europe and the USA. Many of Jens Quistgaards works are still produced today. Listed for sale is an original Model 3513 coffee table, designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark. This particular example is all original and in superb condition. The table has been well cared for and shows only light wear. These tables are becoming increasingly rare, especially those in condition as nice as this one. Some light wear noted. Rare Theodor Skjøde Knudsen big 3 foot wenge triple tray w/ beech inlay dots (made to hang on the wall). Measures 36 x 9 3/4 x 1. In excellent condition, showing minor wear consistent with age. Tray is nice and straight with no warping. There is a rough spot along one side of the top and bottom discs on the back edge (please see detail pics). Rare & Huge Kähler (HAK) Denmark bowl Stunning huge bowl from the legendary Danish pottery Kähler (HAK). It´s by Nils Kähler – handsigned incised: Nils It´s from the 60s or early 70s I guess. The upper part is and interior is glazed turquoise showing an zigzag pattern on outside. The lower part is unglazed and polished so smooth that is feels like silk. Handsigned with “HAK” and “Nils” and stamped “Made in Denmark”. CONDITION Excellent used condition No, chips, cracks or repairs – the glaze has intended crazing. One fleabite at upper rim – barely noticeable – see image! Measurements height: 7.6 inches / 19,5 cm diameter: 11.6 inches / 29,5 cm diameter bottom: 5.9 inches / 15 cm weight: 2374g + wrapping IMAGES the white spots are reflections because of the shiny surface! ABOUT THE POTTERY The pottery Kähler Keramikværksted was founded in 1839 and was a family pottery until 1974. All the pottery is signed with “HAK” after the son of the founder Herman August Kähler. RARE SET of 4 BLACK LACQUERED SHELL GENUINE ARNE JACOBSEN “ANT CHAIR” MODEL 3101. MANUFACTURED BY FRITZ HANSEN, DENMARK. This iconic design is rare and difficult to find. These chairs were designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952, and these particular chairs were made by Fritz Hansen in 1972. Manufacturers’ mark and date are on the plastic base plates of each of these four chairs. They are made of black-lacquered shell chairs, and have chromium-plated steel frames with four legs. They are in good vintage condition but do show wear due to age and use on the shells, with wear along the edges and all chairs have minor dents on the seats. They could quite easily be touched up so that the wear becomes unnoticeable, but we prefer to leave restoration to buyers as some want items in an unrestored state.
