Rare “Pennellate” bowl by Carlo Scarpa for Venini. Three acid line stamp, “Venini Murano Italia”. Scarpas a pennellate series, whose works are clear glass forms decorated with large brush strokes, or’large torn-out color spots’ as he described them, on the whole surface. The brush stroke-effect was achieved by adding small amounts of colored opaque glass during the blowing process and dragging it around the vase until the desired thinness was effected. The glassmaker would repeat the process, using different colors, until the whole surface was covered. Dimensions: 3.5″h, 10.25″w. Condition: Very good, no chips or cracks. Minor flaws and light surface imperfections exist even in’very good’ or’restored’ items due to age and patina. Please do not expect’like new’ condition.
