RARE Antique Vintage Mid Century Modern Milo Baughman Style Cork Floor Lamp
Milo Baughman style cork floor lamp, circa 1950, with brass stem and cork pulls. This monumental 66 tall lamp features a bottle neck shape and richly stained top and bottom walnut cap pieces. Acquired without the original lampshade, but these are easily replaceable. The lamp resembles much of the styling made famous by Milo Baughman. Good condition for age and use, with one missing spherical cork pulley, a light patina to the brass, and some shallow surface wear and missing bits of cork in some places please see photos carefully. It appears to retain the original electrical cord. These cork floor lamps are very rare and desirable in ANY condition, and this one is in very nice shape for its age. This is a visually striking and RARE Antique Mid Century Modern Abstract Asian Filipino Oil Painting on canvas, by the mysterious and seldom seen early Mabini Street Filipino painter known as L. This work appears to depict a very abstracted Manila seascape at dusk, with expressionist brush strokes and very thick impasto against a deep blue field. Signed, notated, and dated in the lower right corner: L. I could find little to no biographical information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? Less than a handful of this painter’s works have ever been offered for sale. Approximately 24 x 36 inches. Good condition, with some light scuffing and edge wear, and one small and virtually unnoticeable puncture to the canvas please see photos. Early – mid 20th century Filipino art has become increasingly collectible and coveted in recent times, as more people begin to appreciate its historic and artistic significance. This is a beautiful and very striking Antique Mid Century Modern clay or red stoneware sculpture, depicting a voluptuous and alluring nude African American woman. The figure’s shy, and authentic gaze and her posture suggest a model who is perhaps shy and demure, not used to modeling nude. The most unique and wonderful aspect of this sculpture is her chubby and voluptuous figure, which is perfectly accentuated and modeled in a powerful and dignified way. Truly a beauty to behold. Appears to be made from a red pottery clay, and glazed with a luminous black paint or ceramicist lacquer. This figure likely dates to the 1950’s – 1960’s, but could certainly be much older. It appears to be unsigned. I believe this may have been sculpted by someone very important. Perhaps you recognize the artist? This sculpture in many ways reminds me of the sculptures by famed Mexican artist, Botero. Approximately 5 inches at its widest point x 14 inches at its highest point.
