Over the years they have released the chair in a whole host of veneer finishes including Rosewood, Calico Ash, Walnut, Cherry and Palisander. Charles Eames Lounge Chair 670 Rare Original 1959 Herman Miller in Good Cond
Charles Eames Lounge Chair 670 – Rare Original 1959 Herman Miller in Good Condition. Listed for sale is a remarkably well-preserved first edition 1959 Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair. With gorgeous 5 ply Brazilian rosewood panels, rubber shock mounts, three arm screws, silver round disc clips, and down-filled cushions, this example is in good original condition. Famously described as a special refuge from the strains of modern living, the iconic Eames Lounge Chair is one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. Unparalleled craftsmanship and rigorous attention to detail made it a fixture in homes across the world. Attached is a 1959 photo of the lounge chair in the newly completed house, designed by my father, that I now live in. The shell and cushions show some wear and imperfections as is typical for chairs of this vintage. The curved rosewood plywood shells have five layers and do not show any chips or damage. Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia Nigra) veneer manufacturing was discontinued in 1990, due to harvesting restrictions species protection. Has original circular silver cushion clips. The die-cast aluminum posts, base and parts are in nice condition and shine appropriately. Original black paint on metal parts is intact. Metal armrest struts have three black screws (thus pre-1971). There are minor cosmetic scratches on the aluminum backrest posts and outer plywood shell. The original’Patent Pending’ paper label is still affixed to the bottom of chair (see photo). HM foil label fell off and was misplaced. Original rubber shock mounts are in great shape (one failed armrest shock mount was replaced in 1987 by a Herman Miller dealer). There are some scratches on the leather armrest cushions. The bottom seat cushion black leather was also replaced at that time due to extensive wear, but the plastic backing is original. One grommet on the seat was separated from the plastic backing and was repaired. Can send more photos upon request. Decide whether you prefer patina or refurbishment. And we will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. The item “Charles Eames Lounge Chair 670 Rare Original 1959 Herman Miller in Good Cond” is in sale since Monday, January 11, 2021. Charles Eames Artek-Pascoe Orig Leg Splint 1942 WWII Molded Plywood Art RARE
EAMES LEG SPLINT – NO RESERVE! Acquired at an estate sale is this wood leg splint design by Ray and Charles Eames, 1942. The Eames leg splint was designed during WWII in collaboration with the Navy who needed a lightweight leg splint instead of the traditional metal splints that were causing pain to the soldiers & sailors during transport. They developed their molded plywood skills which would eventually transform their future iconic furniture design. This splint is in exceptional excellent condition from a collector; measures 42″ x 8″ at widest point. Production was eventually awarded to Evans Company, Artek-Pascoe fabricated only a few samples trying to win the production rights. This splint is out of paper package but last photo shows reference picture with the original Artek-Pascoe details from the former owner which is included. Beautiful piece, iconic beginning of Eames molded plywood designs. Weight without packing materials and box is about 1pound 5.75 ounces.
