The name Gio Ponti is legendary in the annals of mid century design history. Ponti was a Leonardo da Vinci of the design world and his lamps are a rarity in the furnishings marketplace. He did a few designs for Fontana Arte for the Hotel. Ponti lamps are so rare they end up fetching sizable sums when one does hit the marketplace. Here is a one of Ponti’s rarest! Gio Ponti’s “Haughty Trumpet” lamp which was designed for the Laurel Lamp company from his studio in Milan. This lamp is aptly named! It looks like a trumpet standing on end! However unlike a normal trumpet – this one folds out and becomes a swing arm lamp of epically cool proportions!
