RARE NASA Apollo Saturn V Rocket IU Flight Hardware ECS Small Accumulator
RARE NASA Apollo Saturn V Rocket IU Flight Hardware ECS Small Accumulator. Rare NASA Apollo Saturn V Moon Rocket / Saturn IB Rocket, Instrument Unit Flight Hardware Environmental Control System, Small Methanol-Water Accumulator. This artifact was specifically d. Esigned to control the temperature of the Instrument Unit electronic and mechanical components. It was made from two hemispherical, spun, Aerospace grade, high strength Aluminum halves, bolted on the periphery with high strength, stainless steel Alloy bolts. Approximate dimensions and weight: 12.75 inches x 8 inches x 8.5 inches diameter x 4 lbs. Hardware Nomenclature: Methanol-Water Accumulator Part Number: 20Z42040-1 Serial Number: 5 Date: Third Quarter of 1966 The Methanol-Water Accumulator compensates for the coolant thermal expansion and provides make-up fluid for any fluid lost due to leakage. A rubber bladder within the accumulator separates the methanol-water and GN2 used for pressurization. The GN2, acting through the Methanol-Water Accumulator, keeps a constant inlet pressure to the Coolant Pump. The capacity of the Methanol-Water Accumulator for IU 206-212/503-515 is twice that of the accumulator for IU 201-205/501-502, but the basic concept and use remains the same. Methanol-Water Accumulator designs (referenced in the quote above) which was used on Saturn IB flights SA 201-205 and on Saturn V flights SA 501-503. The last thirteen images are for reference only, including NASA PDF photos and schematics illustrating the I. Environmental Control System and Methanol-Water Accumulator (in yellow highlighting on some images). Accumulator was acquired from the Charles H. Bell, world-class, spaceflight hardware collection. An outstanding example of critical Saturn Rocket Flight Hardware for your Apollo history collection! As the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing is fast approaching, spaceflight missions grow farther reaching and ever bold, while we begin to experience a renaissance of international interest in spaceflight endeavors and technology. Still, only a few know about the possibility of collecting such historically significant artifacts, as these from the Space Programs, but that is beginning to change, in light of these events. Over time, spaceflight artifacts are increasingly difficult to acquire and the value of these rare collectibles is very likely to rise dramatically. If you are a collector that is new to the niche of spaceflight hardware and seeking to diversify your portfolio, this is an excellent way to accomplish that with a unique and sound investment. These are heirlooms that will inspire and be admired by many generations to come. Thank you, and welcome to Space Mission Market!
