RARE ATOMIC VINTAGE 1950’S FLYING SAUCER/UFO SPACESHIP, LARGE SILVER METAL/ POLYMER TOY, W/BOARDING RAMP, CLEAR ACRYLIC BUBBLE TOP. PAINTED SIDE LIGHTS & TRIPOD, SPLAYED. LANDING LEGS ON PADDED FEET. Mid-20th century Atomic spaceship models. 20 ½” Width x 9 ½” Height x. 4 Diameter clear polymer center bubble cockpit/bridge. The less-than-perfect welds and the hand painted, rotating, rectilinear, multi-colored side lights suggest that this model may have been fabricated by hand and was not machine made or factory produced. Just recently discovered and fresh-to-the-marketplace. It has a metal bottom deck with a tripod, splayed leg base, all perched as if on tippy-toes, on three padded feet. The upper console is made of silver painted polymer, with a round, clear polymer bridge or cockpit. The hinged loading or boarding ramp is made of metal and has black, non-skid stairs. It’s large, even monumental at almost 21 in width and has mass and weight. It’s not entirely made of metal, in that the removable upper console and shell can be taken off to allow for play and staging of figures on the deck. It previously took a fall before at some point and there’s a small hole in the clear bubble cockpit and some very minor paint loss along the extreme edge of the console that has painted, rotating colored lights. But fortunately the metal body nor the legs suffer from deformities, dents or dings. The toy was clearly used but incredibly, the paint only demonstrates a few episodes of loss. Overall, the silver enamel paint is still largely unscathed and doesn’t suffer any major abrasions or scuffs. It is without repairs and is being offered without apologies. Good to Very Good overall vintage condition. Just discovered and fresh-to-the-marketplace.
