Set of 10 Vintage Eames Herman Miller Dining Chair DCW Molded Plywood MCM Rare. Ten (10) Mid Century Charles Eames designed former college school desk or table chairs. All but one are in good condition, as one chair has a cracked seat as seen in the 7th picture. Most have some type of Herman Miller seal and a patents number plate affixed to the bottom. Many have been repaired as in re-bolted seats and backs for its functional use of this era and design. Great set of Herman Miller Industrial design. Some chairs do not have all 4 plastic feet attached to the bottom of each leg. Measures 20″ by 18″ by 30. Seat height is about 14. These sculptural shelves look great in groups of two or more and look like birds in flight. Please look at the photos of the catalog that show suggested patterns to hang on the wall. EAMES LEG SPLINT – NO RESERVE! Acquired at an estate sale is this wood leg splint design by Ray and Charles Eames, 1942. The Eames leg splint was designed during WWII in collaboration with the Navy who needed a lightweight leg splint instead of the traditional metal splints that were causing pain to the soldiers & sailors during transport. They developed their molded plywood skills which would eventually transform their future iconic furniture design. This splint is in exceptional excellent condition from a collector; measures 42″ x 8″ at widest point. Production was eventually awarded to Evans Company, Artek-Pascoe fabricated only a few samples trying to win the production rights. This splint is out of paper package but last photo shows reference picture with the original Artek-Pascoe details from the former owner which is included. Beautiful piece, iconic beginning of Eames molded plywood designs. Weight without packing materials and box is about 1pound 5.75 ounces. One Black and One White. These don’t come around very often and to find a pair from the same estate is quite often unheard of. These Chairs are for the person who with a passion for being a purist and preferring an Original to a new manufactured reproduction. These Chairs are all Original as Found. Chairs were loved and it shows, unfortunately. Wondering if best to refurbish or keep as is, has been a debate for quite some time. I have decided to let these go to a new owner who will appreciate them as much as I do. Being highly critical, Chairs are Sturdy and Strong and completely usable as is. As Found All Original Structurally Sound and Intact. All of the fingers appear to be Structurally sound, , No repairs or breaks, only visual stress is to the finish or the coating. Cosmetic Flaws as shown in photographs. Chips, Crazing and Soiling to the finish. I gently cleaned with some soapy water to remove the bulk of the soiling. Due to fact that I did not want to tamper with the integrity of these chairs, I will leave the option of deeper cleaning and or refurbishing to the new owner.
