This set of 15 Gerald Thurston Lightolier Lytescape style Progress Landscape Lights is a rare find for any collector of mid-century modern pieces. The set is in need of complete restoration. Included is 15 saucer shades and 18 poles. 1 pole is missing the top curved part and 7 poles are missing the metal circle plug at the top. Currently lamps are wired to plug into eachother and be removed from ground but can easily be rewired as permanent landscape lights. Some small dents in shades but nothing that couldn’t be repaired. Beautiful table lamp / abat-jour with organic shape diffuser in Cocoon and lacquered metal base, designed probably by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni between the 60s and 70s for LichtStudio Eisenkeil, an Italian company that still produces exclusively for Flos the lamps in Cocoon. The conditions of the lamp are really good in relation to the years and well described in the photos: working; lampshade without holes, cuts or tears; wooden base with perfect lacquering except for an easily restored vertical grain of the wood (see photo). Connection elements and lamp holder are instead in white plastic. Original electrical components of the time. Rare lamp with a warm and atmospheric light… Perfect next to the bed. In the 1960s, George Nelson’s experiments based on metal frame structures for chandeliers inspired Artur Eisenkeil founder of the company LichtStudio Eisenkeil in the creation of the first prototypes of Cocoon lampshades, in which the white / rubberized steel wire frame was first molded and then sprayed in Cocoon, a very strong spun polymer plastic film from the United States. Le condizioni della lampada sono veramente buone in relazione agli anni e ben descritte in foto: funzionante; paralume senza buchi, tagli o strappi; base in legno con laccatura perfetta eccetto una venatura verticale del legno facilmente restauratile (vedi foto). Elementi di raccordo e portalampada invece sono in plastica bianca. Componenti elettriche originali dell’epoca. Rara lampada dalla luce calda e d’atmosfera… Perfetta accanto al letto. Negli anni’60 gli esperimenti di George Nelson basati su strutture a telaio di metallo per lampadari ispirarono Artur Eisenkeil fondatore dell’azienda. Ideal as general multi-purpose living room side tables or bedroom side tables. Each table has a small drawer with pull.
