Offering this rare RARE CIRCA 1955 Amber COLOR BLENKO ART GLASS Cat DECANTER’by WAYNE HUSTED. This piece is 18 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches from ear to ear. It does have some cracks Please see all photos. This amazing figural design is clearly one of designer Wayne Husted’s most innovative moments. This rare cat shaped decanter with removable head stopper was part of a series of three iterations of the form, including a small decanter and vase. Whereas the smaller version is called the “kitty” this dignified Siamese sentinel is the “cat” decanter, out of deference to its imposing scale. This version of the three variations of the design is by far the rarest, having been made for only one year (compared to two for the others) and due to the fact that clearly fewer must have been made – no doubt the very high price in the original 1955 retail catalog explains this. It is also the most impressive. Clearly the form is a decorative sculpture and not intended to be functional, as is often incorrectly assumed due to the handle-like tail. STUNNING Retro Vintage FROSTED TURQUOISE BLUE Art glass Genie Bottle in Beautiful condition. The Diamond pattern isn’t equally defined all over (eg/ photo 8) but it doesn’t seem to affect it’s aesthetics because of it’s seemingly Luminous quality in direct lighting, and in fact if you look at it really closely it actually SPARKLES and GLITTERS!! It may have the usual odd air bubble or line / creases of mid century Glass and the Diamond stopper has a rubber band on it in the photos but I’ve since put some clear sticky tape on it instead (just experimenting) which you can remove if you’d prefer but it’s a lovely snug fit though. EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL and RARE Retro Vintage FROSTED PURPLE WAVES glass Genie Bottle in EXCELLENT condition with no chips or cracks. It may have the usual odd air bubble or line / creases of mid century Glass and there is no plastic bung on the stopper so i’ve just put some rubber bands on it for a snug fit for the photos but you can take them off if you’d prefer. Inside the bottle there is some whiteness in places which does show through the bottle when it is dry inside and I’ve taken photos so you can see that. I don’t know if it will clean out or not? But it actually disappears when the interior is still wet or damp and this is it’s best look. It is Absolutely STUNNING IN PERSON. So Beautiful and better in person than the photos show. It also has some Rainbow iridescence in places to the exterior of the bottle as well which only serves to make it even prettier!! (eg/ Photos 4 and 11). ABSOLUTE BARGAIN PRICE for such an extremely hard to find item. One of those relatives started Collecting Genie Bottles right back when they first came out! Up for sale is a rare Blenko Glass Cat Decanter designed by Wayne Husted. The decanter is approximately 12 3/4 tall from the tip of the ears to the bottom of the vase. Overall, except for some minor chips on the base of the stopper as noted in the listing pictures, the decanter is in exceptional condition for its age with no other noted chips, cracks, or repairs. The listing pictures don’t do the decanter justice. Note that imperfections will be inherent in the decanter due to the methodology used to create hand blown glass objects.
