Rare original Strand Theatre/studio lamp stand. Surplus to requirements (sad but true). Check those lovely little atomic Bakelite ball toggle-clamps in black and maroon. The hooky bit is to hang your looped lamp cable on. Levelling bolts in the base could be replaced with castors for ease of movement. Fully extended height a little over 7 feet 4 inches. Lowest height around 4 feet. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Why have a pale imitation, or one of those (frankly wrong) wooden surveyors’ tripods when you can have the real thing to hold your Strand lamp? Please check all the photos. It will necessitate two packages. One for the base unit, another for the upright. Description ——- One (1), rare & out-of-production, magnificent, vintage 1960s, cast iron, HOBART fruit stand or tazza, designed by Robert Welch. Stand has its original, raw iron finish which was intentional – wabi-sabi – meant to acquire a patina of time. Piece should be kept dry. It has acquired a lightly aged patina over the years, but has been well-kept, with minimal rust. Two parts – top tray unscrews from the base. Base can be used alone as a pillar candle holder. Approximate size: 6 tall x 10 diameter, overall. Shown with a large lemon, for scale. Marks ——- marked R. WELCH ENGLAND in the casting, visible when base is unscrewed from tray. 1960s PLANTSTAND Modernist Danish Modern RARE Plant Stand Vintage Eames 50s 70s

Three main platforms is made of. Plywood with a light grey, cream and black Formica tops. They are set at slightly different heights and fixed in a triangular structure by three solid oak legs that thread through the platforms. Very rare and not seen before. Makers mark is on the bottom. The Plant Stand is in very good condition. Some light scratches to the Formica and some staining to the plywood underside. However this could be lightly sanded out. Although we strive to give as accurate a description as possible, patina and age-related wear are to be expected. However, we will always indicate any noticeable defects.
