Vintage Mid-Century Modern Desk and Matching Chair by the Rarest of Designers… We understand this is a Florida Furniture Industries Desk with Original Matching Chair! This set was Designed by a very important and very prolific Mid-Century Modern Furniture Designer, who was known as one of the “Top 10 Furniture Designers in the World” from the 1940’s through 1960’s. According to the estate we got this from it is made by Luther Draper. They had other pieces of his in the estate signed Florida Furniture etc. The desk is not signed as far as we can see. First Quality maker and wonderful Danish Modern Lines. A partial list would include, Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Florida Furniture Industries, Eastern Kodak, Abraham & Straus, Phillips-Davis, Founders Furniture, Boling Chair Company, to name just a few! There are lot’s of articles on Mr. Draper on the web… These are just a few excerpts: August 25, 1960, Ocala Newspaper… “Florida Furniture has been in business about 26 years and cuts it’s own lumber and Drapers Designs are around the use of native wood”. “Draper recently designed 2 groups for Henredon, Called “Circle 60″ and “Cherry Casual. Proof that his fame as a designer has traveled far came last year when the Dutch Government invited him to spend 2 months in Holland to consult with Dutch Designers in Developing office furniture with a European Flavor. While in Europe He visited Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Draper has effectively used the Scandinavian style in his design. He points out that the Danish Style that is so popular today is really a modern version of Early American! Minor wear to surface. We sell everything bought from estates directly to you. Check out this American Classic by Edward Wormly for Drexel!!!!! 100% original silver elm finish. Please examine all pics closely. Once in a lifetime opportunity!!! As part of the “Precedent” line Wormley designed for Drexel in the late 40’s, these side tables in silver elm have a very unique and clever angular modern form. With three levels, the tops have inset leather surface, tinted pale green. There is not a whole lot online about this piece and really hard to tell the value. And by all meams if you happen to find or know more about this piece, please share. The amazing style and architecture of this table is timeless and is worthy of a person that can refinish with craftsmanship or leave as original and enjoy the ambiance that exudes from this 3 tiered table. This piece needs some work to be pristine. Please examine all photos. There are some scratches, finish peeling, and cup rings on the wood and small gouges in the leather top. I do the best I can to describe with as much knowledge and accuracy to the best of my ability. Its a heavy artistic piece of well made furniture. I can box it for you. Vintage 50’s 60’s Mid century modern gentleman’s chest / highboy by Barney Flagg for Drexel. Super high quality piece, solid wood (walnut i think). 4 drawers on the left with glass fronts, 3 drawers on the right and 1 drawer with mirror that pulls open as seen in photo. There is also a large drawer below that is incredibly spacious. This piece is a great organizer and is in great condition. The drawer that holds the mirror that flips up is in the roughest condition with a few stains as shown in photo but the other drawers are great. There is some discoloration/scratching on a few legs as seen in photo but minor. Generally speaking, the piece is in great condition with very little flaws. It is a large heavy piece. Size: 42″ wide x 21″ deep and 45 high. I also have a matching dresser with mirror and a night table from the exact Parallel line which can be seen in my other listings. Original vintage, upholstery is delicate with typical age and use related wear and fading. Seat cushion foam is dry. About 34in deep x 31in wide x 28in tall, seat height 15 1/2in.
