4 Rare, Atomic Mid-Century Modern Geometric Lamp Globes with original brass pendants. Listing includes two extra pendants allowing hanging options. No chips, cracks or scratches visible in quality, thick but not overly heavy glass globes. Rich mid-century golds and greens throw amazing patterns whether when lit or when sunlight filters through them during the day. Like having living light art for your space. 2 large gold globes are approximately 10″ in all directions with 4″ mouths. 1 mid-size gold globe in a richer color is approximately 8″ in all directions with 4″ mouth. 1 smaller vibrant green globe is approximately 6.5″ in all directions with 3″ mouth. Pendants are of high quality turned brass in excellent condition. Lengths are including the light bulb fixtures, but measured without the globes attached. And a dramatic 71. Each pendant is still wired with the working original heavy duty shiny copper wiring, sheathed in heavy woven sleeving with no corrosion and no fraying. All are tested working. Photos showing them lit were taken by wiring each pendant individually with modern heavy duty plug wires to show working order. Those plug wires are not included, however you can easily do the same if you choose to not hard wire them in place. Each pendant comes with original top nut for affixing to ceiling plate(s) of your choice ceiling plate(s) not included. Each pendant has a smooth working swivel ball joint at top. All of the original screws are included to affix the globes to the pendants. I do have the original surviving 16″ round 1″ deep brass ceiling plate (with 6 holes drilled in a circle for the 6 pendants) which has the maker sticker pictured, showing Frederick Ramond of Los Angeles, but it is not automatically included in this listing as there were only 4 surviving glass globes at the time of salvage. Please ask to see photos of it, and of the original complete fixture if seriously interested. If you have 2 other globes you would like to mix with these it could still be used for a dramatic entryway waterfall of mid-century amazingness. All items are carefully packaged to a high standard and insured.

One of the largest examples of highly desirable Lapid Israel Pottery found: 12 x 4 x 4 painted dark matte inside. Very mid-century modern circle indents on 2 sides. Hand painted Lapid Pottery vase with their modernist splat lava glaze. Lapid Pottery’s popularity is rapidly on the rise, get it soon. Made in Tel-aviv 1960s. Stunning art vase study and unique. Very few examples of this rectangular form with indent circles exist. Color is warm white with brown gray splatter The splat designs look like sea life they are art pieces by themselves on two sides. Unused new old stock vase. 4″ x 4″ square. Lapid Israel, Large “Splat” Vase, Batia. Lapid Pottery, Tel-Aviv, Israel. There is very little documented about the history and work of the Lapid Pottery Works in Tel Aviv, Israel – formed shortly after the state of Israel was formed post WW2 in 1949. The earliest pieces I have seen from this pottery are around 1952, very glossy and nowhere near as sophisticated in design as work which soon followed once the pottery was more established, and began exporting. The pottery closed sometime in the 1980s. They produced a range of items from kitchenware to sanitary ware, but they are known worldwide and popular amongst mid-century collectors for their hand painted art ware pieces – from small candle holders to massive floor vases. I have only ever found one published reference to Lapid Pottery, which is a paragraph in the book “Art in Israel” by Benjamin Tammuz published in 1963 by Chilton Company U. Elspeth Cohen, designer for the Lapid factory, has also been responsible for some of the best Israeli ceramics. Her style is clean, austere and classical and in some ways reminiscent of contemporary Scandinavian design. It is unfortunate that Lapid is not equipped to produce large tableware, since her talent is admirable suited to this field. In the past 7 years or so, much more of the history of Lapid is being documented, thanks to Kobi Klaitman in Israel whos father worked at the Lapid factory. Kobi has a facebook page going for Lapid Pottery, and the history of it is now unfolding. Lapid is certainly reminiscent of both Danish and West German pottery at the time, which is probably what attracts me to it.. But at the same time there is nothing else quite like it. What I love about it is the pure Modernist nature of it – with the wonderful patterns, colours and designs. All Lapid pieces like the ones below are slip cast stoneware which is hand painted with either oxides or glaze. The Wax-resist technique was also one often used as decoration.
