Hans Wegner Peacock Chair by Johannes Hansen. The peacock chair by Danish master Hans Wegner is a display of extraordinary woodworking and highly refined design. While using the English windsor chair as inspiration, this 1947 design exhibits the detailed and innovative aesthetic Wegner is famous for. Expertly handcrafted by Johannes Hansen. This particular example has been recently restored. The paper cord seat is brand new and is in perfect condition. It was created using the original material. The wood frame has gone through a detailed restoration. The restoration was captured via video and can be found on my YouTube channel. When I obtained the chair it was painted blue by its previous owner. The paint was stripped and the chair was restored using numerous woodcrafting methods. It was a painstaking process. The chair has a striking look and would be a standout piece for any midcentury / danish modern collector. OF THE PERIOD: Mid-Century Modern. PLACE OF ORIGIN: Denmark.
